What's your level of education for graphic design?
How long have to been in the business?
How old are you?

For graphic design - experience and self-taught
Worked for newspapers late 70s/early 80s for about 4 or 5 years
Stayed home for about 18 years raising and home-schooling my children but had computers and tried to keep up (somewhat)
Worked for newspapers in early 2000s for about 2.5 years
Currently doing graphic design (a copy place and freelance) and pursuing more art/design education in both formal classes (watercolor, technical drawing, Graphic Design and Layout 2) and self-taught (Total Training for Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign) and I read - a lot - until lately when I discovered GDF - and now my addiction has to be fed several times a day. : )
I am 47 and not old yet

Hopefully, more real designers will answer you - I'm just a designer wanna-be.

If it wasn't for the last minute nothing would ever get done.
(When I grow up I want to be just like Keyare! He does excellent work - even when he's trying to not to.)

BA in Journalism with a concentration Nonverbal Communications
3 years on the job experience, 8 years of freelance, then 15 years in the greeting card industry, currently freelancing and looking for a decent job in Dallas. Self-taught lettering artist with almost 25 years doing that as my field of expertise. I'm almost 55 but mistaken to be much younger. It's an attitude thang.

I started by self teaching myself photoshop and paintshop pro.
My current job taught me basics on Quark and a little more photoshop. I designed the 2004 issue of my companies catalog, on a rush job. Because the typesetter was slacking.
Started school this Year to receive my Certificate in Desktop Publishing. I plan to then get my BA in GD.

im 23 and feel like I shoulda started school for this 5 years ago. :(

i love school. lol im having a lot of fun doing this stuff. especially since in my Desktop Publishing 1 i get done the work ahead of everyone else so my teacher and I sit there and play with other tools.

I am learning little things that I never thought of or never knew which is making my experiance a lot better. I am far from where I would like to be!

its kinda weird that I can say..... for the 1st time in my life I LOVE SCHOOL!

Due to serving in the military, I was a 23-year-old college freshman. Five years later I had 2 degrees. Don't worry about your age, you have the rest of your life ahead of you. Where will you be 4 years from now if you don't go to school? I'm turning 55 this year and making plans to go back to learn web design. Follow your heart.

Wow, what a great question and loved reading about everyone, Having been a reporter for years, I am incredibly nosy and want to know everything about everyone.

I was self taught photographer and writer for 10 years with tabloids in south florida, another 3 years freelance writing, 10 years home with children after all this (late children!) and then college, AS degree graphice in my fifties. I also did freelance writing for an industry magazine all through college (I graduated in 2002). Two years in business....
I am 55 (with a 14 and 15 year old at home, 21 year just left home..keeps you young.), single mom, and I can't help it, I have always liked cool. Still do and plan to be doddering along to rock'n'roll till I am a hundred or so...

I am going back to college, starting in May, to get my BA. Have to finish up for an AA first, then going on....kind of excited, just tested and registered yesterday. Also, lots of neat new classes available for the next two years. Tighten up my technical and learn new stuff like 3D.

Actually, I have really enjoyed this past week on the forum and think everyone of you are pretty cool. Glad to see there are some my own age....court---when will you be 55?

Again, Silence...great question.
Peace

BigPerm...I went to Palm Beach Community College for AS---am starting at Florida Community College at Jacksonville to complete to AA. I forgot the name of the school here in Jacksonville I am going to for BA---Florida University or something. I already saw the online and brochure and you have to be juried to get into the graphics program. Looked really neat.

Are you in Florida?
