You don't usually see shots of hummingbirds perched - very nice.

did you know that hummingbirds can NOT walk?

Really? I didn't know that! I never usually see them land, and this one seemed to appear out of nowhere. I was disappointed that I didn't get a better shot of him, but he caught me kind of off guard!

Still, I really liked the colors of the green in the background and the flowers in this shot.

thanks Tyger... I just try to have my camera on me at all times! :p

It doesn't always help though - on our bike ride Saturday a huge emerald green dragonfly the size of my hand landed right on my leg, but before we could snap a photo he flew off.

Last Thursday a green humming bird flew into my garage and couldn't find its way out. It would fly into the ceiling like bumble bee. It was chirping loudly and apearing like it was ready to drop dead of a heart attack. I took some video of it. I used a broom and moved it close to the bird, after about 10 minutes it pirched itself on the broom and I was able to set it free.

wow, we don't see many of them around here. They are so amazingly quick! It's neat that you could get him to perch on a broom... he must have been exhausted.

The poor thing was flying around for a hour or so. It would always look and fly upwards (garage ceiling is about 10'). So I needed a broom just to reach it. Once it landed I carefully lowered the broom through the garage door and zip he was gone. :D
