These are meant to go out to bands, labels, clothing companies, etc. Possible clients. Purpose is to gain more exposure, get new clients, network.

How are they? Are they mail-safe? I kept the right side on the back open for the address, stamp, post office stuff. Does that look right? I am going to get 500 of these printed and I just want to know if I should go ahead with the print and if there is anything you guys feel I should add/remove beforehand.

Thanks,

Jeff

Not sure on the front, really doesn't say anything to me. Except, with the splooge next to Mylkhead, which I am not sure what is being conveyed there

As far as the back goes, not too bad, the Post office may place a label with a barcode on the bottom edge. As far as What is legal in mailing, stop by your post office, and ask for a current postcard standards template, they should give you one for free. Or you should be able to get standards off their site.

The templates they give out are nice, because you can lay them over your proof, and line everything up, so they won't get rejected.

As far as marketing to bands and such, do you really feel a 10% off offer is going to get more business, just sell your talents. I suppose if they are going to indy label type bands then maybe, otherwise, probobly not so much.

Well, that "splooge" next to mylkhead is the wet cat that everyone has now associated with mylkhead. It's my logo.

The front is supposed to be simplistic. I had the front cluttered with some examples of my work, but I just want it to be smooth. The background is a tie in with my new website color scheme and layout. Which will be up later this week or next.

The 10% off is just supposed to go in people's heads that they they have an advantage over the next guy because they think they are getting a special deal. It's better than NOT having it on there. And I also like to hear what clients come to me from seeing the postcard.

I had taken a look at the specs for postcards online and I think I am pretty safe by leaving the right side completely blank.

And they are most definitely going to indie labels and bands. That's pretty much my entire client base.

Now that I have looked at it some more, i see the cat, it was not apparant immediately though. Try it horizontal, and that may help immediate recognition. Maybe add more contrast so it sticks out a tad more.

Overall not a bad design, and I didn't mean to slam your logo.

You should be safe with the white space, but depending on actual specs if these are BULK mailed, then there could be issues with the way they inkjet the barcodes on the bottom. If that bleeds into the black, they will most likely put alabel over the botto portion of the card. It is no big deal, just looks a bit crappy IMHO.

If you are placing stamps and addressing a couple 20 or 100 at a time, then you should have no issues.

I don't think they are mailable - check out these templates from designers toolbox (http://www.designerstoolbox.com/print/post.php) and from Modern Postcard (http://www.modernpostcard.com/preparing_materials/mailing/postal_regulations.shtml)

As far as USPS stuff, I would just ask them. I am pretty sure that you are fine with a regular post card rate stamp. Where it get tricky is if you are bulk mailing. You will want to presort a mailing list for the zip codes and optimize the art for USPS optical readers to qualify for lower bulk mailing rates.

Stick a 23 cent stamp on it and call it good.

I like the cat, but it gets a little lost for me. Had to really look for it.
