the little bugger didn't really want to cooperate, but they came out pretty good nonetheless.

I have been waiting and waiting and WAITING to catch a monarch butterfly on camera, but they are so quick I can never snap the shot in time. Today I was just taking photos of flowers at Neuro's folks house (they have beautiful gardens!) and as I turned to step out of the flower bed I almost bumped into this little guy! This was the first butterfly I ever encountered that wasn't camera shy :D

Me too. D-Zine always beats me to these things!! Ggrrrr. This is my favorite too! For the "postcard file" and all that. (Maybe you should start a "bug postcards" line?!)

Butterflies are bugs, so. I don't lurve them, sorry dudes. But I used to catch them all the time when I was leeeeetle. :)

It's been said but, great job morea! :)

love the monarchs morea!...when i was 14 thousands of monarchs decided to roost in the trees in our backyard as they migrated north...oh, to have had a camera back then...i'd of had a field day...hooked on butterflys ever since....

I could honestly say in terms of exposure, this is probably one of my better photos i've taken since taking up photography. Most of my shots i'll tweak a little, levels colour etc.

This shot is as is and i'm quite pleased...i'm really seeing the quality of this lens now, and learning more about proper exposure. Of course when saving for the web you lose a little colour and quality, so it's not 100% of the actual image.

U guyz rock! I'm a digital-snap'n'click-kinda-gal... my strength is composition, but I know nothing about f-stops, apertures!! [gazunteit!], or all the other little twisty-swivelly adjustment knobs...

Really... these are all outstanding!

Gorgeous shots Morea and Tyger! This reminds me of a time when I was about 10. There must have been a Monarch migration near our home. Anyway, me, my brothers and our friends were carefully stuffing them into maynaise jars and letting them loose in my room and back out to catch more. We must have caught well over 2 hundred before my mom caught on to us because we kept slamming the door going in and out. Anyway she opened the door and walked into my room and nearly passed out. It was eerie - sort of like a scene from a Hitchcock film because they were sitting all over my room and flew up startled at the door opening. To this day, my mom does not like butterflys.

Theres this place in Niagara Falls called the Butterfly Conservatory. It's a huge garden with millions of butterflys of all kinds flying around. Big, to really small. Tons of people go there just to get the beautiful shots. It's expensive to get in though.

I would love to go there! Myrtle Beach use to have one of those called the Butterfly Pavillion! I never got to go tho :( it was kind of expensive too.

I was at a stop sign yesterday and 4 butterflies fluttered by me at once. They were so pretty! I still haven't gotten the butterfly shot yet and it saddens me but it is sure to happen soon enough! ;)

Okay, mine aren't near as beautiful as those posted by Morea or Tyger, but here are a couple. I liked the one in flight, even though it wasn't in focus.
