Chinese Text

Hi All,

I need to convert some text to Chinese for the back of a Business Card.:eek: I've been told I can do the conversion on my Mac without additional software, but, so far, no one can tell me how.

Any Suggestions??

I don't trust the online translators so I have been using a company to translate for me. When I heard I could simply use my Mac to translate, well that was just too intriguing to pass up. I will go back to the “old” way.

I do business cards for a Japan-owned company, which lists the name in English with Japanese translation under it. What I do is have them send me a PowerPoint (yes, yes, I know) file with the English and Japanese characters for each name. I copy the Japanese text and paste into text edit. From there, I copy and paste into Illy CS (doesn't work for Illy 10 or earlier), and convert to outlines, saving as EPS. If the company has Chinese Employees, they will likely be able to supply you with what you need. As for translating to Chinese, there's always the Translator Widget (but I agree with you about not trusting such things).

Thanks goodness I know chinese too. So just to stick my nose up a little higher before I get smacked, I'll boast a bit that I can speak 3 language's very fluently.
Japanese the best, then come's English, and Chinese the third, so if anybody needs help on these language I'll try my best to help out.
So, what does your text say??

Thanks morea, but I should becareful to not put up my nose too high, or I'd get really smacked. Haha!!

Also I should say I was lucky to be able to learn 3 languages, though those days were a tough time. If not I would had not been able to talk with such nice people's like you morea, and the other's also in this forum.

My Director of Sales and I are going to Beijing and Shanghai in November. We will be meeting with large Commercial Printers there to possibly do business. This is our first trip to China and it was set up by our local Chamber of Commerce and sponsored by the Chinese Government. I want to print one side of our Business Cards in Chinese “Correctly” I don’t want to find out that my card translates to “Step-on-you Printing.com” or “Foot-step Printing.com”

I talked to one translation company and they cannot guarantee that the interpretation of text would be accurate. I was stunned. I know they translate medical forms to Chinese all the time. I certainly hope the info is accurate.

I’m probably over doing the Business Cards and may even be sweating over nothing. But everything I read about doing business with China emphasizes the importance of protocol and status. I guess I just want to make a good impression.

If you can help, I would appreciate it. Or, even a lead towards a company that can guarantee their work would be helpful.

I can't lead you toward a comapany but I sure can help on translating.
Not a perfect translator but can do my best.
But how come your trying to change your web site name to chinese??
are you going to make a site in chinese?? or your leaving the site name just as it is but in the business card you just want to translate in chinese?? I don't get this part.

I don't know what I'm "Supposed" to translate for the business cards.

We are not making a Chinese website....yet....the presses are running 24/7 just to keep a 3-5 day turn on orders in this Country.

Like I said, I just want it to be correct when I present it. (I'm somewhat of a perfectionist......yes....it's a curse)
