hey people-
this is mostly just a postfor those of you who remember me on here back in january whining about mylazy buttand how i wanted to getoff of it and exercise/lose some weight (prepare for just a tad of bragging).
well...i just completed week 7 of going to the gym for 1hr/5x a week (swimming and treadmill)...and i FINALLY got that weight loss goin'. so far i've lost 11 pounds!
http://graphicdesignforum.com/emoticons/hop.gifYAYAYAYAYAY!!!
so now i have about 8-9 lbs to go and i'll be at a lifetime low. i'm sooooo excited. so how are the other workout people coming along? dd i'm thinking of you specifically. r u still doing the navy seal stuff?
now i have to get into weights, since i've only been doing cardio i've been slimming down but not exactly firming up...i've never done weight training before, and it gives me the perfect excuse to ask my sort-of boyfriend (for those who remember we were "taking a break" and i was on here crying about it? looks like that won't be for too much longer!) who was an almost nfl player to give me a program and check out my hot new bod! http://graphicdesignforum.com/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
so i'll also ask if any fitness experts wish to give me any advice about how to maximize the ~2 months i have until swimsuit season to get toned up?!
ok that's it for now...

Rachel- I haven't been doign the Navy Seal stuff........however, i Have been doing cardio and running. I have been on the South Beach Diet (with my bf) for the past two weeks, and we have one more week to go. I have done the diet before, and i lost abotu 10lbs on it. Thsi time its not working so well. I think I need to stick with the exercising and diet a little onger and I'll be ok. I have lost a pound or two, but thats it. But , hey it someting I guess. Congrast on your weight loss though. Thast great. :)

thanks for the kind words, girls...i have struggled with my weight for such a looooooong time, and it is such an amazing thing to see the end in sight. esp after having my son and gaining such an enormous amt of weight during my preg...for almost three years i've just been pretty much resigned to the extra pounds. and now they're almost GONE! (saw my sort-of-bf this morning on the way to drop my son off at day care, we get out of our cars and he's like DAMN girl you got SKINNEEEEEEEEE!!! *insert huge sigh and grin here*)
and rach good luck with the diet. that's a tough one. i'm a carbomaniac, i don't think i could do it. /emoticons/smile.gif

hmmmmmm...that sounds really frustrating. i don't know how the south beach diet works exactly (besides low carb), but are you also counting cals? it might be too crazy to do both, i don't know. but if you finish up this last week, and you're still not getting results, you might want to simplify and just try low cal/low fat? either way, i found this reeeeeeaaally great website for keeping track of diet and exercise, it's called www.fitday.com. it counts everything - fat, carbs, protein, cals, even all your vitamins and minerals. you have to be really meticulous to get accurate results, but since i'm on the web all day anyway i figured why not. so i've been using it for about a month now, and as i said earlier i've lost a lot so far.
you know how they say 3500 cals = 1 pound of fat? so cut that many calories a week and lose a pound, twice that many in a week for 2 pounds, etc...well, i know it's just in theory, but that's what i've been doing and the weight has come off at almost exactly the predicted rate. it took a while to get started, but now it's right on schedule. i mean, i know it probably wouldn't be the same for everybody, and our bodies are not calculators...but i think there's something to it. i've been eating tons of carbs - cereal, yogurt, lots of fruit, rice, pasta, etc - and still losing.
i don't know if this helps...but besides my anecdotal stuff, that fitday.com website really is a great tool. keep us updated and hang in there!
