Today I was fortunate enough to see the Airshow today, it was a good chance to get some shots in and try this out for the first time. However, I quickly found that the Zoom lens i purchased, although good for the zoo, flowers and stuff like that, this lens had some trouble with high speed things. For the money it's an all around good lens, but i found out today, for these types of shots, it would be nice to have a lens with IS(image stabilization) and a faster focusing ability. I was able to get some decent shots of the bigger and slower planes, but the jets, the f-16's and those alike were hard to get quality photos out of this lens. Most of the pics needed some post production.

Anyway it was still fun and a great learning experience.

The ones i'll be posting are the "Snow Birds", they were the feature of the day. I have alot to share, but i'll start with these:) I'm really tired!

these are great!...despite the limitations of your lens, you pic'd up great pilot and cockpit detail, and i like the reflections of the sun on the aircraft...good job!

no pictures of the bloody B52 bomber that scared the crap out of me on saturday, then?

picture me walking down a sunny street, smiley and content, when the bloody plane of death ROARS overhead. jeebus. i nearly hit the deck.

Limited by the lens my butt! Those shots rock, man!!

I especially love that one of the three really close together. They must have been damn close together.

I also love the detail you got of the guy with the flag hanging out the cockpit and the paint works on some of the planes.

Looks like you had a beautiful day too. Nice job, Tyger!!

These are great Tyger...what a great place to get some shots! I'm going to share these with my dad next time I go to see him - he is an airplane/jet nut! He builds and flies radio control ones and he will love these! thanks for sharing! :D

Can't wait to see them. It rocks that the sky was so clear for you. Makes the planes so vivid!!

Wow! Lovely shots Tyger!! You're lens and more importantly you have done well! Really, really amazing shots man. On some of the shots it almost looks like you were on the same level, like shooting from another plane.

Wonderful shooting. http://img208.imageshack.us/img208/7237/clap8yq.gif
