Good morning, lovely people... happy Tuesday!
Did anyone else have trouble getting out of bed today? Yikes! It's never easy coming to work after a three day weekend... so from now on, we should start taking mondays off, so we can practice. ;)

Amen. My wife and I spent all weekend working on our house. We were definitely laboring on labor day.

Sunday we spent the whole day working in the yard... we had let it go a little bit this summer.
My garden was turning into its own ecosystem, so I spent about 3 hours weeding. Hoo boy, am I aching from that! :p

You should do like me and just have a weed garden. It only takes a moment to reach in and pull up any flowers or veggies that creep in there. :D

My friends and I were *supposed* to go swimming, but the one who had connections to the pool had to clean the house instead...doesn't it sometimes feel that if you want to do anything fun, you have to do it by yourself?
Which is a major bummer because summer is just about up.
On the other hand, this is a three day week for me, I am taking a vacation day this Thursday as it will be my B-day. :)

Good, good...just about everything I hoped for. Cool (and goofy) coworkers, learning a lot, have several websites live on the web now, Compared to some of the salaries my friends are getting, it's starting to hit me in the face that mine is still on the low side, but the benefits are awesome and and I think a performance review is around the corner anyway. Some of my clients are just as wacko as the last job, but you get that anywhere and I have a "between" individual who deals with the clients and keeps them off the designers backs.

In a similar vein, I have decided to just let the crab grass take over the regular grass. It grows quickly, I don't need to reseed it or fertilize it, and the stuff is drought resistant. When we get a spell without rain, the regular grass turns brown, and the crab grass is just as green as ever. Stupid societal norms! I reject the "system," and I defy "the man!" I will grow crab grass on my lawn, and to heck with "real" grass! Who decides what is "real" grass, and what is a "weed," anyway?
Hmmm. Maybe I need to cut back on the coffee...

LMAO @ black knight!
I think my whole backyard is kind of like a weed garden *sigh* LOL! The people that lived there before me didn't take care of the yard, and they burned things in the backyard so anything that *could* have been there of course died. It's green alright - but its weeds. If you squint, it looks like grass! LOL!
I have been wanting to get out there all summer and work on the yard but I can't bc of my back right now. Total bummer. Just love spending the summer sitting on my ass practically </sarcasm> but I swear one day there *will* be grass in my backyard and my front yard (which *does* have grass) will have a butterfly garden up by my front porch damnit!! :)
As for the long weekend - it was good. Relaxed with friends mostly. I didn't want to get up this morning, outta bed. I had to talk myself into crawling out of bed. Don't you hate that? I know I do!
JP - vacation? What's that???? ;)

I went back today and then left early because I think someone forgot to tell clients to send us work?! Argh! I hate it when it's this slow. It's awful and makes for horribly long days. I end up using my vacation time to cover leaving early. So am not sure what a vacation really is either.
I feel your pain Neuro - It has been really slow over here too. Every day at work I am reminded of this quote from G-man.
And for my next feat, I will stretch an hours worth of work over the entire day.
Over the 4th of July my boss closes down the shop for a week and we all take vacation. Our clients save up all the work so when we get back there is over a weeks worth of work piled up on my desk. When we got back this year, I finished up all the work in 2 days, a little over 22 hours. That means I am wasting around 20 hours a week surfing the internet and chatting around the water cooler. Maybe I am just too damn efficient :D

Wow, I took some 'Aleve cold and sinus' for my headache this morning, and now I feel really loopy... like I've been spinning around in my chair. And I know it's the medicine because my current chair does not have (a) wheels, or (b) the ability to spin.
Is it Friday yet? :p

why do work days seem to move in slow motion after a long weekend?
We should refer this to committee.

Agreed!

ok, so we shall form a committee.
for starters, we need to start taking 3 day weekends EVERY week until we can establish whether this week was a fluke thing, or if evey week seems longer after a long weekend.
Who's with me?!?

09-07-2005, 07:35 PM
I'm in! WE need atleast 6 months of these 3 day weekends in order to really tell whats goin on here!

Yeah, MD - that's about right. I have only had about 1hr to 1hr & 1/2 of work each of the last two days. Hell, I don't even have interenet access so I have to bring stuff with me to keep myself occupied. It's getting to be ridiculous. At least I have learning cool stuff in PS. So I'll take it while I got it. Until I go nuts with boredom. Thank god this is a short week!!
