Not sure how else to describe it. It seems I have a tendancy to either dream and open my eyes half way through, and my eyes then incorporate my surroundings into the dream, or I'm hovering in a semi-dream state at some point in the night, and my eyes are open.
Here's what happens: I'll wake up, at least to a point where I have full motor control as well as speech. But my room will be all messed up. One time, there were 3 shelves full of pots, pans and dishes on a wall where I have shelving for models and collector's stuff. Once there was this massive map of the world, but done in an ancient style, that spread out on my wall. Another time, a little gnome got up from under my bed, and went and stood by my computer. Last night, some old woman, 8 feet tall was leening over my bed, and as I woke up, she turned into this dark, darker than shadow, textured form and moved up to my ceiling. Both my cats where on my bed at the time, and I said "This is gay, I'm dreaming..." one cat let out a meow because she tends to speak back to me...
Now being awake, and remember how my mind felt and my state of conscious at the time, I know for fact I was part dreaming. But it's odd...stranger how my brain adds to my dream like world with information that my eyes pick up on. Another strange thing, is how I can remember closing my eyes, opening them again, and the dark blob was still on my ceiling.
Mind you, there have been times when there were dark, menacing objects, like figures which have been coming at the bed, and I can remember yelling out a battle cry and jumping half out of bed. Sometimes, I'll turn a flash light on....and the light dispels the dream, yet when I shut it off again, it's still there. That is wierd....but I can still tell that i'm not quite awake....
I'd be curious to know what state of dream sleep i'm on, and what these phenomenon are...http://graphicdesignforum.com/emoticons/ph34r.gif

you need a dream interperter (sp?) sounds really crazy to me, I know it is hard for me to disassociate reality from dreams alot of the time....I just go with the flow now and let my mind do watever it wants. Maybe keyare is abducting you from his mother ship and anally probing you, but hes putting other images in your mind so you don't know its him. its possible.....
and i just realized I am at 940......damn, I dont want to turn 1000 http://graphicdesignforum.com/emoticons/icon_cry.gif

You have two options... ease up on the LSD and it should go away or.....
Take more LSD and never wake up!!!

YOU'RE WIERD!!!
And I thought seeing things while I was awake was weird. Sometimes I swear there's someone beside me... nope, just my imagination... But half dreaming half awake, that's wierd...

Hey Magnus,
I can relate, although i haven't had your experiences. I do however have the ability to be aware when i'm dreaming, sometimes i can control it, sometimes i can't. I think what's happening is that your mind, consciousness, spirit or whatever you want to call it gets confused in which reality is before hand. When we dream our mind interpets things in a physical way because that's how our mind works. That's why dreams usually don't make sense. Actually you are receiving information that pertains to you and your catching yourself doing it in the sleep state. When I get home i'll post some links for you to read more on this. There's alot to learn and understand about reality.

Thanks Tyger, I'd like that. The dreamlike state you're referring to when you have a high degree of control is called 'Lucid Dreaming'. I also experience the same thing.

Most of my dreams are about car crashes and train wrecks but I'm pretty sure that has something to do with my job...
Or my social life.
Ever wake up from a dream and not be able to move cuz your motor control is still asleep?
Now that's creepy.

Anyone ever stay awake during a falling dream?? I had a re-acuuring dream for a couple days when I was like 12, of me walking up these wooden stairs on a cliff, and evertime I got to the top I would fall off, well one time I decided I was so sick of the dream that no matter what happened I was going to stay asleep through it. Well in my dream I finally hit the ground (which I had never done previously) and I can tell you it was crazy, everything got black and silent, and I couldn't see.....it was though I had experienced the passing of life to death in a dream, and it was completly real to me. It was really crazy, plus I have seen numerous things in my life to make me believe that we are truly not alone.

DFrag I've had that falling dream many times. What happens is your heart stops and what your feeling is your spirit leaving your body. Your actually a spirit who lives in a body and has a mind. Your mind and spirit are never seperated. Just think can energy ever be destoryed? No! It's either Kinetic or Potential. So what makes you think that your spirit and mind will ever siest to exsist. It makes no logical sense.
Anyway back to the dream thing, what happens is your heart stops so you feel like your really falling I mean you have no doubt in your mind cause it's just as real as when your awake and thats cause you mind and spirt start leaving your body because your heart stops.
Now go watch the Passion of Christ!!!

magnus, i thought i was the only one who had freaky stuff like that happen! except i definitely don't feel like i'm dreaming or half-sleeping when i see things. i do feel like it happens just when i start to wake up, though. but it feels like i'm awake. i see all sorts of things, always black, spider-looking things, figures, flying/hovering dark areas, hovering around my bed, near the ceiling, coming out of the walls, or walking around my room. on many, many occassions my body just takes over and i'm not completely coherent until i find myself actually jumping up out of my bed and running into the living room or waving my hands wildly in front of my face. then my heart is pounding, i'm totally freaked out, and i realize "oh here we go again..." and try to go back to sleep. sometimes that's hard 'cause i'm a really big scaredy cat.
as far as actual dreams go, i also have horrifically graphic and vivid dreams on an almost nightly basis. for some reason a big theme lately has been animal carnage taking place in the small yard behind our house. lions, bears, horses, dogs, sheep...usually lots of blood and violent deaths. and i live in philly, so it's not like we actually have any of those animals roaming around (except dogs of course). it seems SOOOO symbolic, except i haven't looked into it enough to know what the symbols might represent. maybe i'll check out whatever links tyger is going to send you. i'm very interested in dreams.
i've also considered the possibility of spiritual stuff especially with the first part, the visions while i'm partly awake. i'm a Christian and i don't doubt that spiritual warfare and evil spirits are very real things.
well all i can say is i'm glad it's still 6:30, if it's too late when i talk about this stuff i'm usually setting myself up for a bad night. http://graphicdesignforum.com/emoticons/freaked.gif

Heres' a few links that may shed some light. Mind you these are theories and concepts based on the nature of reality. In a nutshell we dream what we believe. If we believe in demons they will show up in our dreams, the same goes for other beliefs in heaven, war, aliens etc.
To understand where the author is coming from read upon as much as you can, her name is Jane Roberts who has another entity called Seth speak through her. I know it's quite a thing to accept seriuosly but if you open your mind and give it a chance, it makes alot of sense. I highly recommend a book called 'Seth Speaks'. It touches base on the nature of beliefs, religion, reality, re-incarnation etc.
If you want a quick explanation of why your life is the way it is, simply examine your beliefs, thoughts and emotions....your honest beliefs good or bad, reflect on them and compare your physical life to what you truly believe...then you will see, some things will make sense, some won't. As our dreams are jumbled and crazy so are our thoughts and emotions, we do have the ability to control them for our own benefit.

what are you smoking and where can i get some.
seriously, i think this has something to do with brain waves, gamma waves more specifically. it is similar to the transe like states that can be seen in tribal rituals--or runners high.
thomas edison used to nap with a fistfull of ball-bearings, when he fell asleep he would start to drop them, this would kind of wake him up into the state of consciousness that you are experiencing--it really allows the brain to work unhindered.
i hate when you think you're awake but you can't move or bretahe--like somebody is holding you down. you can see your surroundings but can't speak or do anything.
as for the falling, i finally hit the ground during the third dream, it wasn't bad. just got up, brushed myself off, and went inside to cook green pancakes on a hippopotamus.
Magnus did this happen to you before you started spending time on GDF? I'm worried now too - last night all my dreams were filled with people with weird names like defjoe and d-frag and drorain!! No joke! I've decided I must be spending way too much time on here. :)
If it wasn't for the last minute nothing would ever get done.

Did Drorain have blue hair? cause when I draw drorain (as a cartoon character) he always has blue hair !!! Hope I'm not doing anything weird in the dreams

OMG - THERE WAS SOMEONE WITH BLUE HAIR!!
Just kidding. I don't remember any blue hair - fairly normal people doing normal everyday things but all with GDF names. It made me laugh when I woke up.

its a kinda of sleeping dissorder. whats happening is your body stays awake when your mind is going into it's R.E.M. state.

it can actually be bad, your mind is not going to the REM state fully , so as your body.
so you dont get enough rest during the night.

i asked my mum and she said that's it's all about you 'acting out' your dreams, it's like your body isn't sleeping so it does what goes through your brain......true, the bad thing about it can be that you're still tired when you wake up, but it can also be really bad if you do strange stuff in your dream....don't go using this 'problem' as an excuse!!

Have you guys ever been sleeping and all of a sudden you just get really startled and you felt like you just jumped/shookin your bed? Well my girlfriend Carol, tells me that her ex-boyfriend tryed to teach her that this was your spirit coming back into your body. I dont know if that dude is crazy or what but he would actually not eat meat for like a week and then as he was falling asleep he would try to stand up in his sleep or something. I guess he would and coulddo this whenever he wanted. He said you can control your spirit and you can get up and walk around. He said that there were things that could scare you or make you lose concentration and your spirit would or go back to your body. Thus making you startled and "jump". He said when you were doing this never to look at your body lying on the bed cause that would freak you out terribly. http://graphicdesignforum.com/emoticons/freaked.gif
Anyways i dont know if this relates to you or not magnus.
But I just thought it was interesting andthrew thatin there.

It's called lucid dreaming. Supposedly, if you can realize you're dreaming, without waking up, you can control your dreams and make concious decisions. You're supposed to be able to fly, or do whatever you want in a lucid dream. If you've ever seen the film 'Waking Life,' it talks about this a lot. One suggetstion for mastering lucid dreaming is to try turning on a light switch if you happen to see it in your dream. Apparently, light levels can't change too much in dreams, so if you flip a light switch on in a dream and the light doesn't go on (or vice versa), you'll recognize the fact that you're dreaming, enabling you to have a lucid dream
I've been trying to accomplish this for a few years now, without any success, but I do have friends that claim to be able to do it. Who knows?
