When I make a PDF, I dont exactly know when to use the OPI Active option.

Also just because... Ive been reading through a lot of blogs posted here of designers who seem to have been in the same situation as me (namely a rookie GD) A lot of very motivating stories. Thanks everyone.

I turned my OPI option off in my default pdf settings, I don't use it at all.

Keep it off. If your sending the PDF to a printer - this will cause nothing but problems for the prepress guys if they are not PDF savy.

Also,

If you keep it on - your images may come up lo-res looking in your PDF.

I turn it off in 2 places. Utilities > Usage and in the Print Set Up- click off the OPI Active in the OPI tab.
