Joe,
Sorry for arriving so late. We are going to make sure you have enough posts so that you can leave on vacation tomorrow if you want to! So, in order to start the ball rolling....
Chris Carpenter beat the Mets for his 21st win, and Albert Pujols his two home runs last night.
What is it with most of the larger teams that spend a ton of money on payroll, but most times it doesn't work for them?
Mynock
09-09-2005, 03:17 PM
I didn't know the Mets were still a team.

They're not. What they are is a practical demonstration of Fred Wilpon's limited baseball warfare for profit.

when you look at their roster, you would think they would be a lot better than they are. good offensive players, good starting pitching....just doesn't make sense
JPnyc
09-09-2005, 03:27 PM
I haven't given Fred Wilpon a penny of my money in 5 yrs, and I won't. I have to go to Shea twice this week to entertain a pal on his 1st visit to NYC. But the tix are free and I won't buy anything in the stadium. I'll get a hero at the deli and bring it in.

DC had a team, and then they moved to Minnesota. They had their chance, I don't think they deserve another.

Well see Minnesota had a team in hockey called the Northstars and they moved to Texas, and we got a second chance with hockey the Wild. How pathetic are you if you're Minnesota and you lose an ice hockey team to Texas. What up now Neballer? Didn't we deserve a second chance?
JPnyc
09-09-2005, 04:48 PM
Well the Spos had their chance too. Ya know what really stinks about it, that franchise produced more stars for MLB than any other. Problem is they could never afford to KEEP any of em so they ended up being a farm system for all the big market clubs. That's a hockey town. Folks don't care about baseball there. But what a really great org. it was. Man they could draft and produce talent. Pedro's from there as well.

nope, the only city that deserved a second chance is Cleveland. They lost the Browns to Baltimore. And what happened to the "Browns" when they went to Baltimore - they won the pancaking Super Bowl their first year. 2005 is the Browns year, so watch out y'all.
