So Im getting my parents to give me a camera for my 25th birthday, but I am clueless on them, never had one, they have had one for a few years. Whats important features for a digi camera that is to be used for purposees of photo editing and general design. I was thinking, high resolution, high storage, good zoom and good night pictures. Any pointers would be welcome.

PS. When making something (webpage, poster, whatever) where you use a photo as a basis, where do you get your photos? Take em your selves? Your client? Google? Royalty free cds?

alekdesign to get my photos I use all of the above it really depends on the project. Eventually I want to buy a really good SLR camera and start a collection of my own shots being that I'm going to be traveling for a long time.

But for a Digicam it really depends on what you can offord so the real question is what budget are you looking at and what will you be doing with it? I see you want to take general shots for Graphics so I wouldn't get anything under 6 megapixels.

Mega pixels! Yeah! Mega pixels!

Does anyone else remember that commercial? The guy walking around New York asking everyone he sees about his camera? Cracked me up.
