I'm using PC computer and have Painter 7.The memory in this computer is: 320 MB of Ram. The problem I'm encounter is that , every time when working on Painter and after working for a few min. the program stop responding and asked to close. Did any one encounter such a problem?. Can any one help in explaining why this is happening?

I've never used Painter 7.
Actually, I have never even heard of it.

Some program glitches come from typing in a particular key, or trying to do a particular thing - see if there is a button on the program you press before it locks up.

On a Mac I often ran into "scratch disks are full" and had to restart with a clearer memory.

Or it could be you are trying to use too large a file for this program/computer.

Photoshop > Paintshop pro, CorelDraw, or any of those other programs.

If you're running Painter 7 on the XP, there is an update patch for a memory problem available.

Photoshop > Paintshop pro, CorelDraw, or any of those other programs.

Actually Painter is a rather cool program and is very different from Photoshop.

Photoshop is a great raster program and can do a lot of tasks very well, but if you're an illustrator looking to attain a more "painterly" style, Painter is the way to go.

It focuses more on actually painting on a computer instead of being a photo program that can be manipulated to get the look of a painting.

I don't do many illustrations - if I do I'm in Illustrator - so that would explain why I'd not heard of Painter. Thanks RocketPig.
