Hey, thanks guys. The "big" 23. As far as anything special goes, well, not to sound like an A-Bomb or anything but I'm working both jobs today. I'm at the new one right now...I might touch Photoshop & Dreamweaver eventually, and tonight at the other one I work with a bunch of underage girls who...well, um, lets just say I never had anyone look as good as them when I was in high school. I work every day until Saturday night, so I'm probably going to just postpone any celebrating until then.

I did both yesterday too, which is why I didn't partake much in the awesomeness that is talk like a pirate day. Oh well, I have an awesome idea for my online portfolio and other self promotion needs; it's going to be a shot of awesome for sure! I've been sketching and documenting how I'm going to do it during my breaks, and I'm hoping to have it all done and ready to go by late November early December. I've been putting it off for too long, but I've made a commitment that I'm going to get this done, no matter what.

What is there to do for fun in Iowa?

Watching paint dry is rather exciting, but it certainly doesn't beat pushing a hoop with a stick down a dirt road.

Certainly not what I expected (and that's not a good thing). I'm still looking for a new one. An entry level graphic designer ad with a local design firm was posted recently, and I sent my stuff in like over a week ago, and usually they're pretty quick on rejections (like two days) but I have yet to receive any. Don't know if I should do a follow-up or not. I didn't say I would, but I didn't say I wouldn't.

Thanks MD. Didn't you catch in the "revolution" post though? It's Ray-ber, not Roo-ber.

Or do you just like roobs?

No biggie. My last name has been butchered since as far back as I can remember. "Roo-ber" is the most common, but I get the occasional "Roo-ben" or "Ree-ber" or even the "Rayoober" combo. Many years ago at a track meet, right before I was up I was called "Revlon". How the hell they figured that out, I'll never know!

Come to think of it I did read that thread, I just have a terrible memory. I don't even remember half of what I post here. When the Friday QOTW comes around I often hear myself say "I wonder where I posted that......God damn I'm funny."

"Or me in a few broads"...HA HA HA...man I'm awesome.

Hey man, if somebody offers, I will gladly oblige. I like beer. I also like those Red Stripe commercials (note the sig).

OK, what's a good way to do a follow up (as in, I've never known how to do it really well, I always sound like a goof)? "It's my birthday, give me a job." That would be amusing. I have people skills, until a major life changing decision is in question.

This is kinda nice, doing this at work. I can rack up more than two or three posts a day!

LOL @ "it's my birthday, give me a job!"

Call up and say something like, "I sent my resume and some samples in response to the ad for a designer you ran last week, and I just wanted to see if anyone had a chance to review them."

I always thought that it was "rebar"

or "rhubarb"

Oh man, people called me "rhubarb" non-stop, thinking it was hilarious because it was a play on words and thinking I was annoyed by it, although they kept mispronouncing it to begin with after I told them how it was really pronounced.

I'll give them a call tomorrow. But, if I do get an interview, then 999% (not a typo) of my efforts will be into getting my work into a GOOD portfolio case.

17 years is a lot of time to get my right arm into shape. Come on, my avatar is awesome...that image is reason alone why I went and saw the movie, which was also awesome.
