What are you publishing from/to?
Could be fonts, could be postscript version, could be... need more info.

I too ran into the Invalid Function Resource problem. I had created a document /w Corel Draw 11(go ahead and say that's problem #1) used a Vector Graphic with a fountain fill, published the document to PDF and then imported the fountained graphic from the PDF to a new CorelDraw 11 document. When I published the new Draw document to PDF I got the IFR error when trying to open it. As Acrobat opened the PDF of the new Draw graphic, it stopped creating the document on the offending fountained object. (See if that object it the problem) I went to the new Draw 11 file and checked on the fountained graphic and it had been converted to a billion or so shaded lines, not one object with a gradiated fountain fill. I deleted that cluster F and used the original vector graphic and no more IFR error. See if any of the graphics in your document fit this description or other similar circumstances. Email me at chrisfrech@yahoo.com if you want examples of the two gradiated graphics. Hope this helps.

Doubt it there ChrisFrech. That post was dated June of 2003!
PrintDriver is a grande format digital print dude. His advice/opinions may not apply to the 4color/offset/web world of printing
