Click to See Complete Forum and Search --> : How to find certain font in windows fonts folder?
Alright, this might seem like a dumb question, but I recently got 1 new font, so I copied it over to fonts folder, then (long story short) I messed up the font with a program. I tried to delete the font from the fonts folder, but whenever I go to photoshop or flash, the font appears still there. So I'd like to ask, how do you find a certain font (in this case the name is Edwardian Script ITC) inside windows font folder, and get rid of it? I am really confused since I thought I deleted it and it still shows up in programs and I can't use that (messed up) font, and need to get rid of it ASAP!!!
Thanks in advance...

Do a system search?
Tried that, but it only looks for the filename of the font? And I know I deleted the file named as that font. (xxxxx.ttf) Any idea how could I search for it when I know its full name (Edwardian Script ITC)?

Run a search on extension name and find it that way.
Go to search and enter (asterisk included): *.ttf
That's all I know to do to track it down.

Maybe your fonts don't want to be found.
Run a search on extension name and find it that way.
Go to search and enter (asterisk included): *.ttf
That's all I know to do to track it down.
There are about 2000 fonts with .ttf extension here, and I know I deleted the name of this font from windows font folder. (ITESCITC.TTF or whatever it was, I checked it first time to know exactly what font it was).
Is there a chance that the programs won't find anything after a reboot? Because I think it's weird that program still acts like the font is installed when it's deleted

Well, aren't there a couple of other font file extensions that it might be?

I only installed the font with .ttf extension, and had only 1 file... I am completely clueless as to why the program would still think the font is installed when I deleted the font file from the fonts folder... I am getting very frustrated about this.

What other programs do you have installed?
Because Adobe has a font folder in the application folder and fonts sometimes end up in there.

I was aware of that, usually adobe has fonts in C:/Program Files/Common Files/Adobe/Fonts directory, I deleted it from there as well as from C:/Windows/Fonts.
But it turned out to be that for some reason my Computer still had the memory of the font, so it acted like the font was installed untill I've rebooted my computer. (I should slap myself for not rebooting earlier)
And by the way, I downloaded the trial of "FontExpert" by Proxima Software which helped me to realize that problem. The font showed up in FontExpert when I clicked source file it said "The font might still be in use by another application or remains in the memory of windows untill next restart". I recommend this piece of software for font management, it's very handy, even if you don't plan on purchasing a copy, give it a try (like I did), they have a free 30-Day trial which is very great!

Get Adobe Type Manager if you deal with a lot of font issues, saves me the headache 99.9% of the time.
