I deposit my paycheck at 9 this morning right? So when do you think I should have access to those funds? 10? 2? 5? Nope. How about anywhere between12:01am and 7:30am SATURDAY! WTF?! What happened to if you make a deposit before 2 it shows up the same day?
Swear to god, I'm going to start keeping all my money underneath my mattress and swear off banks altogether.
Direct deposit. It work well for me.

If only my company had it... if only...
Seems like you need to switch banks.

My favorite is when companies do automatic withdrawels from my account when I have no money...and then I owe the bank $30.00 for every transaction....my highest fee so far is $250.00 in overdrawn fees, not to mention the money that was taken out originally....I pancakeing hate banks.

I hear ya Holliday. I do my deposit BEFORE 2pm on wednesday and the funds are available to be friday...sometime. WTF is that...I need my money like....NOW not 2 days from now!
Direct Deposit...I wish! Alot of small companies don't or won't do that bc of what it costs them. I am with a very small company and we mentioned it to my boss a few months ago but its kinda pricey I guess....I dunno. Luckily..if I need or want my check before Wednesday I just have to ask the bossman and he will go ahead and give it to me.
D-Frag - NSF charges - THE PITS! I haven't had one of those in about 2 years now.....GO ME! But there was a time when I was getting them alot...I finally got straightened out. I only have one payment that is deducted automatically and I always make SURE that I have the funds in to cover that.
Oh yeah...and I HATE BANKS TOO :o)
They charge me $4.95 everytime I go to the teller window (after 1 free time per month!) WTF is that! I am puttin MY money if YOUR bank...and you are charging not just a monthly service charge of $5.95 but an addt'l $4.95 for each teller visit over 1 per month! PFFFT! I deposit my sh!t through the ATM as much as I can now bc of that.
so...in another words.....I feel ya - banks suck! :o)

Check with someone at the bank, if i deposit before 2pm, funds are available the next morning, even checks. Although most have a disclaimer that checks can take up to 72 hours to clear. My bank is great, morning deposit after availability.
Maybe you should shop around for a new bank...

maybe we should all stop using banks at the same time - organise a 'no bank' weekend or something - make them sit up and take notice. maybe not charge us so much money for the privelidge of having them make money off of our wages....hmmm.....
greetings, earthlings. take me to your dealer.

Folks, I've started a petition at
http://new.PetitionOnline.com/credcard/petition.html (http://new.PetitionOnline.com/credcard/petition.html)
to help fix the overdraft problem.
I'm asking Congress to write a law prohibiting banks from authorizing debit and credit card transactions beyond the account balance or credit limit.
I recently got hit with a string of overdraft charges when my deposits weren't credited when I thought they would be, and the bank is now after over $400 from me. 11 overdraft charges, plus $7 a day after the first 5 days for a negative balance fee.
Your not safe with credit unions either. I got hit the same way with a credit union in Maryland about 2 years ago. Eventually, after I convinced them that they weren't following their written policy, they refunded ~$350 in overdraft charges. In the meantime, however, I couldn't pay my bills, buy groceries, buy gas, or anything else.
Please sign my petition, and if you like, you can send your horror story to me at daveclark2015@yahoo.com

I hate to be the lone voice of dissent here, but I worked at a bank for 2.5 years and a credit union for 6 months (had to quit to make more time for school). In any case, that Check 21 biznatch that went down last year was a bunch of you-know-what. Checks still take forever to clear. Checks deposited at 9am have probably only made it to the processing center by 5pm, if that. A bank can't give you credit for funds they don't know exist, so that's why they make you wait until the next morning so they have time to get the check through the system, but often times a check would come back two or three days later. Banks don't want to take a loss, simply put. At the bank I worked at, they'd give you $100 instantly per day--per the FDIC's rules. As much as banks would like to be nice and assume that every check is good, a good portion of them aren't, and there are people out there who exploit the time between when a check is deposited and then presented for payment. We can thank Joe Fraud for having to wait a day.
Next, automatic withdrawals (ACH transactions) are a sort of agreement between you and the payee that you promise to pay $X.XX every payment period, regardless of whether you have it or not. I don't do ACH withdrawals simply because I've seen companies abuse this (AOL) and rip people off. Plus, I don't like giving out my account information. Most banks offer bill paying services, I use that. It's easier to keep track of what's going out.
If you're getting charged a monthly account fee, either sit down with a bank rep and see if there's a better account for you or simply switch banks. The market is getting competetive and there's tons and tons of free accounts out there. I haven't paid squat for my accounts in the last 3.5 years.

(So I'm a poet today.)
Whatever happened to Holliday anyway?
Holliday just up and disappeared one day, who knows.
I was wondering where rivalarrival came from. I don't think he's a graphic designer. Is he just checking through forums looking for posts about hating banks?

If it weren't for our 30$ donations and the $1.50 bank machine network crossover fees for the ATMs, which I will never understand. How do you expect them to make billions in profits? I mean come on people, do your part, support the banks, and the poor suffering board of directors. LOL.

I like banks! If I didn't I would be like my step-father and keep all my money in a shoebox in the closet!

I like to keep a roll of coins in a sock next to my bed. That way, if someone breaks in to the house I can pretend I am sleeping until they get really close, and then I can whack them in the head.
