Scanning A Gold Foil Label?

I have always heard about problems when scanning gold or silver labels because of the reflections. Buy now I actually have to scan a gold label for an upcoming job (The writing is in Chinese so it has to be scanned). Does anybody have a technique to scan the label?

Or does anybody know chinese? ( Long Shot )

I would photo copy it at about 200% and play with the contrast till it comes out right then scan the photocopied logo.

At least thats what I would do when I worked for a screen printer and we had to redo logos.

Or you can try to scan it.

Either way you need to recreate it I'm just trying to give you the easiest way to get it done.

yeah, its pretty much impossible to do if you are scanning it... like benjo said, you are going to recreate the foil look in photoshop no matter what you do.
however, you can take a photo of it and have it come out great... you just need to get the light to reflect corectlly into the camera lens (i used one of those silver reflective fold-up car dashboard shades and it worked great)...

I just contacted a guy who does typesetting in Asian languages, and he wants to charge $200. It is just typesetting one line of text. If the guy knows what he is doing, should it not be just like typesetting a line in english?

I am going to try the picture idea, I have a great digital camera, lets see how it goes. I wil keep you guys up to date.

I'll redo it for you how many characters are there. I'll also charge less then your contact.

When I'm done I'll hand you a fully editable Adobe Illustrator EPS file and I can do it the same day you give it to me.
