I am running PageMaker 7.0 on a windows XP. I have created a book with 169 pages of 7pt type. When I try to make a table of contents some of the products do not appear in the TOC. What can I do to fix this?

You are making the table of contents in page maker...as part of the 169 page doc or is it a seperate document?

labadv, It sounds like you are trying to use the automated TOC feature. It has never worked very well. I've tried everything to get it to work on larger projects and it never does. Your best bet is to just turn it off and typeset one yourself.

P.S. 7pt type? Why so tiny?

The TOC is part of the 169 Page document

I was running the automated TOC feature. The catalog is a product list of nutritional and health products from various venders that I do for a health store's catalog order dept. The TOC feature worked o.k. except, it did not put in the new product lists added during the updating process. I can't figure out why it would not included the new products.

The catalog containes two main columns on each page with 5 columns within each main collumn (ID #, Size, Description, Suggested Retail, Our Price) 7 Pt seems to allow all the information without having the description column being too long. Also, originally, the client was trying to save money on printing.

I assume you understand for the TOC to be generated correctly, you must (a) apply a style to the heading that is to be included in the TOC and (b) when the style was created, the 'include in TOC' box was checked?

>>it did not put in the new product lists added during the updating process. I can't figure out why it would not included the new products.<<

It's my guess you didn't apply the style(s) necessary to include these new headings in the TOC.

You are probably right. I will check to make sure I did it right. Thanks for the help.
