Hi,
For some reason my JPG file won't open on a PC when sent via e-mail. It was originally made in Illustrator on a Mac and then exported to a JPG.
Is there a way to make this file open up on all computers? It's my resume so I'm going to be sending it to different companies not knowing if they use PCs or Macs.
Thanks

First off don't send anybody a resume as a .jpg

So just save right from Illustrator as a PDF file. This should open on any computer.

Make sure your jpg file is RGB or it will not work on pc pic viewer.

But do use the pdf version the quality will be a ton better

Add the .jpg extention onto your filename when you save as, IF you are going with a .jpg file. You have to add the extension to any file you are sending from a Mac to a PC. So if you are sending a tif add the .tif extension, Illustrator doc add the .ai extension after the file name, etc. then the PC can read the file.

Also, if sending a resume go with what Benjo and Mickey said...you def. wanna send a PDF for better quality.

Like Mickey said... it's probably a CMYK / RGB issue. Make sure you're using an RGB color space when making a jpeg.

We don't open unsolicited attachments. Trashola. Unread.

Thanks guys, I'll try those suggestions. :)

Another question. When sending a resume via e-mail, would it better to send the designed one or would it be better to send just a simple text resume just to be safe?
I'd love to send the one I designed but I'm afraid some people might not be able to open it.

Thanks

At work, html email is sorted and dumped by our server automatically. Not allowed by IT. Never see it.
As I said earlier, unsolicited attachments are automatically trashed.
May read the email letter though. Put enough info in that to get my interest and make sure you include contact info.
You want to send fancy resumes? Use the post.

And welcome to the forum!

Oh ya know I didn't think about what PD said but yeah they may skip right over it since they don't know you from Jack. I would take his advice on that!

And yes, welcome to the forum :o)

BTW - any luck with those file conversions?
