i was thinking of not taking the job that I interviewed for.. My friend is the receptionist there and told me about it. I emailed her my resume and she forwarded it to the correct person..

She then later goes to tell me that shes been throwing away resumes!! Thats something that i'd NEVER do.. Very unprofessional.. And I just dont think I want to be associated with that..

This is my future.. This is my reputation.. I dont think it would be the right thing to do..

Any opinions?

well shes not a close friend.. so i was thinking of declining the job (if i get an offer) from the people who interviewed me, and asking them just not to meantion that I declined it. I wouldnt want to get her introuble at her place.. and hearing about.. 'why did you decline?'

If it's a job in the field take it.

Don't worry about the other workers the only people you have to worry about are your co-worker and ultimatly your boss. As long as the boss is happy you'll be happy.

Don't blow off a good opportunity cause of the receptionist.

its so tough.. lol I dont work in graphic design yet i design the catalog for our company and im helping with the web picz, etc etc. I hate the sales end of my job and thats my #1 priority.

I work with my mom here and id hate to lose that experince as well. But sales are horrible with no upside in sight. no raise untill then. Im paycheck to paycheck and figured if I got an outside job then i could do the Catalog for my boss maybe at a certain price so he saves money and i get extra.. I dunno tho..

You guys dont think she could effect my carrer?

Well...this is your first design job...right Debz?? I have to agree with Joe and the others... I would take it just to get your foot into the door if nothing else. It is hard to get into the industry period...and right now its hard to get a job just about anywhere these days. Take the chance, learn some stuff...you don't have to stay there forever but you DO need the experience, you can never have enough of that. You didn't ask yer friend to trash the resumes...you weren't behind it...she made her own decisions. I don't think that will reflect upon you and the type of person you are. You will work for PLENTY or crap people in this field before you get your nitch so just make this a stepping stone...only my opinion of course ;o) Good luck!

screw her... you won't have to deal with her anyway. maybe she was instructed to do that. I wouldn't doubt it.

Amnibo is right about the environment.

You have to go with your Gut feeling. Sometimes we can all give advice and it seems logical but if you just have a gut feeling that it wouldn't work out then don't take it.

But if it's just a thought that ran by your head let it keep running till it's gone and take the job.

Men in general think different in the job area. I've worked at places where it's very uncomfortable and the people where jerks but as the provider I stuck it out. Woman have more of a luxury in this area unless of course your a single mother.

Not all women except single mothers have more of a luxury in this area. I'm single, no kids and I have a house and a car and student loans among everything else to pay for...I stick it out where I am to pay for all my crap and support myself. I have to know that I can support myself....reguardless.

Just FYI k :o)
