Tuesday Morning I filled out and signed all the Legal Power of Attorney and Life Insurance stuff so my wife can function in case something happens to me on my China Trip.

Last night I found out that of my mentors and best friends died from Cancer...
Vigil tonight, Funeral Saturday.....

I woke up this morning to a Dead Mac.....I can run programs, but cannot restart, shutdown, burn disks, see the server, etc...... One of my other macs can see this computer so I just started pulling 40GB of information so I can reformat and reinstall everything.

Is there a button I can press to restart this week? I think I could use a Command + Shift + Escape

Thanks Morea! I tried Double clicking on your easy post, but nothing happened....no lights, no choirs singing, nothing going backwards back to Monday.......probably because I'm on a PC today....:eek:

Joe:

Sometimes in our lives we all have pain
We all have sorrow
But if we are wise
We know that there's always tomorrow

Lean on me, when you're not strong
And I'll be your friend
I'll help you carry on
For it won't be long
'Til I'm gonna need
Somebody to lean on!

Hope that made you smile a little ;)

Joe - this is one of my favorite poems... maybe you will like it too.

The Rainy Day
by: Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

The day is cold, and dark, and dreary;
It rains, and the wind is never weary;
The vine still clings to the moldering wall,
But at every gust the dead leaves fall,
And the day is dark and dreary.

My life is cold, and dark, and dreary;
It rains, and the wind is never weary;
My thoughts still cling to the moldering Past,
But the hopes of youth fall thick in the blast
And the days are dark and dreary.

Be still, sad heart! and cease repining;
Behind the clouds is the sun still shining;
Thy fate is the common fate of all,
Into each life some rain must fall,
Some days must be dark and dreary.

Ya know, it's for occasions just such as this that the good lord gave us booze. Just a thought.

All you have to do is get Superman to fly around the earth counter-clockwise a few times and that should take care of it. I think I have his business card somewhere. Doh! I forgot, Patrick said they fired him!

Besides, Superman's method only allows you to relive the crappy stuff from this week. Maybe it's better this way...

I was worried about getting too religious on ya all. But apparently it flew.

"lord" is a safe enough word though - it's not inherently religious.

For example, you could have meant that the medieval liege who manages the feudal estate provides alcoholic beverages...

JPnyc

That ain't the feudal system I remember learning about in school. The serfs were barely provided ANYTHING under that system. The right to exist, and little else.

You're fooling yourself. We're living in a dictatorship. A self-perpetuating autocracy!

All government is in the business of subjugating it's populus. Our big advantage is that our gov. knows that nothing subjugates like comfort. Comfort breeds complacency like nothing else in this world.

My Mac is back and running....(Still 10.3.9) I haven't done the Tiger upgrade because of some incompatible hardware....(PC of course :) )
When I pulled everything back to my computer, Norton found a Virus in one of my e-mail archives and killed it. I didn’t think Macs got viruses very often.

Funeral is Tomorrow......I’m feeling better about that as well....

I leave on Sunday.......and no, I’m not bringing my laptop! No Internet, No E-mail...Whatever shall I do??

Oh boy, have you people not watch the required Monty Python?
Will need to watch it again......haven't seen it in 20+ years!

condolences again on the loss of your friend and mentor. In time the pain does fade, leaving only happy memories.

Have a safe trip!
