Tiled images

can anyone tell me the application that is used to make a picture from many pictures.

eg. i have like.....1000 images and one master image. The 1000 images will be made tiny small, and tiled. Their brightness and colour will be manipulated, and the thousand tiled images will come together to look like the master image.

I'm racking my brain trying to remember the artist who popularized that style... can't.. remember..

Anyways, I am not familiar with any sort of tool that will automate the process.

Woo Hoo! I can finally help some one with something.

After searching long and hard for something that did this, I came acorss this program, MacOSaiX http://homepage.mac.com/knarf/MacOSaiX/ This program will allow you to use images in your own folder, or it will also allow you to use google images from a search in your image too. Worked out great for my class assignment. Hope thats what you want.

I might be able to help, had an inkling to make a jigsaw puzzle mosaic as a gift once upon a time, played with several pieces of software, and ultimately decided on this one:

may not be the easisest to use, but gets the job done, even for large size images, if you're wililng to wait the time it takes your processor to chug away. I'm just not sure if it plays nice with macs or not...
