First and foremost, if this isn't the correct area for this sort of question, I apologize.

I'm interested in finding a graphic design internship in the Dallas TX area for the summer and I'm having difficulties finding any. I was wondering, do any of you know of a specific internship or, better yet, a place where I can find an internship in this field? (I have a feeling I've been searching in all the wrong places) Anything helps.

If this is the wrong place to post this, please tell me. I'm still new to this place.

Hi Zero_Hawk, welcome to the forum. This is exactly the right place for your post so no worries. I don't have any advice as far as internships in Dallas but somebody will come along and give you some. Are you a student?
Do you expect to be compensated?
Do you have any experience?
What field of design do you specialize in?
Do you have a resume and portfolio or a website link to a portfolio?
Have you tried printshops or sign shops?

I'm sure Morea will be around to point you to the job search links. Unless you are a student in a school with an active internship program, finding one is just like doing any other job search.

For the original poster. If you're in school right now I'd go see your counselor or teachers. They usually have contacts and other offers sent to them wanting students to apply. My school even had a side class for finding and getting an internship.

Whoo I'm a little late on this...

For PrintDriver:
- Yes, I am a sophomore in college.
- Compensation for what exactly? You mean pay? (Still new to the job world sadly)
- I do not have experience in the actual field of graphic design. However, I do have a good amount of experience with computers and Photoshop in particular. This is the main reason I want an internship; the experience.
- I'm not too familiar with the different fields. I do a lot of digital painting, photo editing, webpage layouts, backgrounds; pretty general stuff.
- Resume: No Portfolio: No (I'm not even sure what's expected of a portfolio so I'm not sure what to make for it) And I do not yet have a website.
- I have not tried for a job or internship at a print or sign shop.

As you can probably tell, I'm very new to this line of work. I am very interested in it, though, especially after I visited this site for the first time. Anyway, thank you all very much for your help.
