illustrator - re-size problems

i'm getting there with illustrator.

only problem is i've been creating images that rely a lot on lines. i've noticed that if i group everything and re-size the pic all the lines stay the same size ie if i make the image smaller the lines look realy fat.

this means i have to ungroup everything and change the size of all the lines one by one.

Any ideas how to top this happening?
