http://www.graphicdesignforum.com/forum/images/icons/icon1.gif Text in Photoshop CS2
Hope somebody can help.

I only have photoshop CS2 and I am creating a small brochure, one of the pages consists of just text, I need all the text to fit the page left to right with no jagged edges on the right if you know what I mean, set out in paragraphs nice and even.

eg:
----- ---- ---- --- ---
--- ---- ------ --- ---
-- ------- --- ----- --

If I use the left justified tab then it leaves the right handside all un-even,

eg:
---------
-----
-----------
----------
------

I noticed there is another tab in the paragraph section that displays even lines and looks like the example below

eg:
------
------
------

but this does not change the text when clicked and most of the time it is blanked out and not available, any ideas?

Quite good in Photoshop but could do with a step by step answer.

Thanks for all your help

Make sure your text is highlighted when you click the paragraph tab you want to use.

You really shouldn't be doing text in Photoshop. It rasterizes and prints fuzzy most times. You should use a layout program of some sort.

Hi Print Driver

I have tried highlighting the text but it doesn't do anything, when i do this in word it works but not in Photoshop.

Any other ideas?

I have Illustrator aswell and it doesn't seem to work in there either.

I even tried formatting the text in Word and then pasting into the image but it pastes the white background of the word doc aswell.

Thanks for any advice.

Click on a part of the text until the little ][ cursor appears, then hit Ctrl + A that should highlite all your text. If that doesn't work, please state what OS you are using and any other specs you can share.

Hi there

OK, the text highlights but the option under the paragraphs section to click the

------
------
------

button is not highlighted, if I then choose the arrow tool and click the text, the button becomes available but does not justify the text as it would in word, it just moves the whole block from the left to the right of the screen.

Also, sometimes when I cut a large amount of text and paste it into Photoshop (say 80 words), it lets me paste and then shuts down, or if I re-size say 80 words from say 10pt to 36pt it also shuts down.

I have Photoshop CS2, Windows xp pro, I have 2gb of memory and a pentium 4 3.4ghz with 400gb of disk space, so have ample resources.

Any Ideas

Thanks

Instead of just selecting a text tool and typing away, select the text tool and click-drag a text box and type in that. Then your options are available.

It needs a framing reference in order to justify.
