Can anyone tell me the initial steps needed to make a dvd label using illustrator cs2
or if u can provide a site with tutorial, that would be good too

Are you printing it yourself or sending it off for pressing?
If sending it off use the template provided by the print vendor.
If just screwing around on your own, open up
File>New From Template>Cool Extras>Templates>Band>CD label.
Dump everything except the guides and bleed and go at it.
As for using Illy, that's up to you to learn.

Yeah, we need to know if this is going off for screenprinting or sublimation to a CD printing house or if you're experimenting with Avery labels at home before we can help, because the layouts and file prep necessary are quite different.

Screw Illustrator, get yourself a nice pack of coloured sharpies and go to town.

yeah it comes with a shit ton of new templates, I was rather astonished actually.
