I know some people are worried I have more bitching to do -- hate to disappoint, but I'M DONE!!!!!!!!! Vacation officially started 10 seconds ago with a nice "ccrrracccck" open of a frosty guinness.

Launched two sites tonight, clients are pleased. That's the last of it. Now, I am free to relax. RELAX. Do you comprehend the magnitude of this?? Oh oh oh yes, I am scheduled for a massage, a haircut, a manicure. I'm going to wrap presents and light cinnamon scented candles and watch "ELF" five times tomorrow if I wanna. I am going to bake cookies. I am going to play Xbox and eat taco bell for breakfast if I wanna. I have days off!!!! Just for me me me me, did I mention they are for ME?

*twirls around in circles and then hugs everyone*

No more working late nights
No more working weekends
No more Internet Explorer
No more 800x600 resolutions breaking my beautiful layouts
No more revisions
No more proposals
No more emergency web design projects
No more shopping!!!!
No more stress

... at least until next week or so. ;)

Anybody else loving the finish line right about now?

Well I have to work tomorrow and I can't get to sleep! :(

EC

I can't ever sleep. I have pulled so many late nights this month I'm a walking zombie, especially this week. Do you get *any* time off?

We get monday after christmas, that's it I think. I have a few days comin' but I'm gonna let em carry over to next yr. I wanna hit Scotland in the late spring/early summer.

EC
12-22-2005, 05:59 AM
OOooh, how fun! I have never been, but I've been close. I can't understand a single thing Scots say, but they sure do sound cool. lol

For me, my vacation is going from the office to the livingroom, how exciting. lol

From a sociological perspective, I just have to study a culture that not only invented golf and bagpipes, but where skirts on men was once the norm. Ya know, kinda like people in the aquarium being drawn to the shark tank. You just have to see something up close that caused so much damage.

LOL I love the bagpipes. That's what I had played at my wedding, makes me bawl my head off -- not such a great idea in retrospect.

What part of scotland? I can't wait to hear what you think about the accent. I got as far north as Liverpool and had to have a translator half the time. A woman from Scotland struck up a conversation in the bathroom at Heathrow, I nodded my head for about 10 minutes, never caught a word. lol

I would LOVE to go there though, it's definitely on my list.

Oy, bagpipes. You know why they always walk when they're playin' em? They're trying to get away from the noise.

Not sure where yet. My pal in the northern UK will be showing me about. He was born there actually, although he's pure northern limey. Last yr we did the north of england, and I'd seen the south long ago. He was over here in sept. to "do NY".

And I have no problem with regional accents. Well, except some NYers.

EC

You know what irks me? That you live in NY and can just jet on over there in relatively short order; and with the great deals that BA has, you can actually afford it.

For me, it's about oh -- 16 hour flight I think? in the teens, definitely. And while I can get those $300-$400 deals from BA, I have to hop to Seattle first because they don't come here. And that piece of crap Alaska Airlines will charge $600 bucks for a 2.5 hour flight with barely any service. Ggrrrr.

JPnyc
12-22-2005, 06:16 AM
8 hrs ain't short, to me. I don't wanna do ANYTHING for 8 straight hrs, not even sleep. Obviously I'll never see Australia unless they sedate me.

But hey, you could live in NY if ya wanted. I mean it's so crowded now that I can't imagine 2 more folks would even be noticed. Heck, you could gun down half the city and it'd still be crowded.

Yeah BA is the best airline I've flown. Unlimited drinks! This time I plan to fly into Heathrow, visit a friend of mine in the south, then train it up north, drive to scotland and back, and fly home out of manchester international. That could cost more, I dunno.

EC
12-22-2005, 06:19 AM
I flew from Manchester, it was only like $50 bucks. That sounds like a great trip. I love the UK, I'd live there if they'd give me a visa. Aparently they don't like our kind much, because it ain't easy (I've tried).

BA is by far the most spectactular airline ever.

I don't think I could afford NYC. I think I could live there though. Maybe someday. ;)

I'm 5 hours from Hawaii, that's the shortest trip to somewhere cool. So I go there as often as I can. Next trip scheduled for November. That will be an even bigger WHooo hoooo.

Believe it or not it's almost as tough for the brits to get to stay here. My friend married an american and they still kicked him out. He still thinks I'm the 1 that called the INS. Now they live, with their newborn, in southern England. She's a NYer. They're the ones I'd be visiting in the south.

NYC is expensive to live in but the wages are also higher. You can live in manhattan on 40k, less if you're very frugal. On 75k you can live pretty well, speaking of one person.

I almost married a brit myself once upon a time. It was a freaking nightmare trying to figure out how to sort it all out.

EC

I don't have a *wage* nor do I have location-dependent clients. I could afford it, but I'll wait until I can live well. ;)

I figured.

Yesterday he said to me "Can you turn the stress down to about 85% or so?" LOL I've been driving him nuts, and have been very neglectful. I think if he pours a couple of dirty martinis in me, he just might get lucky.
