Hi, does anyone know if there is a shortcut/keystroke to delete the active layer? I've looked everywhere and can't find one.

One isn't pre-programmed but you can create one under Edit>Keyboard Shortcuts. You can change it either under Palette menus or Application menus (Both layer deletes will be changed to match as both these items have to have the same key command)
If you can come up with one that isn't being used. LOL!
