No Quark 5 mac, I don't know what I did, the first couple of times I did it I got the little space guy who shoots the object. Then I did it and it started out the same but the guy walked to the middle of the box and then a big green alien came in from the other sideand wiped out both the little guy and the object. Now I can't get it to do it again???

Hey, question:

One thing I loved about OS 9 was that scrolling through folders when opening a document from an application was really was really easy and quick when using shortcuts. (For instance, command-up_arrow would go up to the next folder.) Is there an equivalent in OS X? AS FAR AS I KNOW, only typing letters will scroll to the nearest section within a folder, and there's no way to jump from folder to folder.

Any suggestions? :)

Also, Benjo...

Command-option-D I used to use all the time, but in OS X it hides or shows the dock (even though the Quark menu still lists it as the command). Is there a way to change the preference?

Well I just tried it and it dosn't work exacly how you said, I think it works better bacause all you have to use now to navigate is the keyboard arrows. Thats right no more command key the arrows stand alone and stand tall.

QUARK

Every have a block of bulletted text in Quark where each bullet point is a small paragraph. You fussed with space, tabs, first and left indents so the bullets hang over the left, and the paragraph is completely indented??? Then you have to change the size of your text box..... ACK!

Try this handy short cut:

Put your cursor infront of your bullet (Option + 8 on Mac, ALT + 0149 on Windows to create bullet)

Then Press Command+\ (probably Ctrl+\ on Windows)

This causes all type in the paragraph, from that point on, to line up flush left with the new invisible character you inserted (turn on Invisibles to see the character, simply backspace over it to delete)

Amazing time saver, and your text wraps if you change the size of the text box! My favorite new trick.

MAC OS X:
Command, Option, 8 Enables/Disables Zoom
Command, Option, + Zooms In
Command, Option, - Zooms Out

Command, Shift, 4 Allows you to make a screen shot (correct me if im wrong)

PHOTOSHOP:

EASTER EGG----> Hold COMMAND (CTRL on PC) while selecting HELP>about PHOTOSHOP to Reviel photoshop's 'code name' that was used when it was being programed by adobe.
there is also a Secert Wizard somewhere too, can't remember how though...

Hold SPACEBAR to move the starting point while making a Selection, or creating a Shape...

When you have text selected or about to type use Command, Option, Control, Shift keys along with the direction keys to adjust you tracking, kerning, spacing, leading...

Command+Spacebar will allow you to zoom in
Option+Spacebar will allow you to zoom out

F key switches viewing modes

TAB key hides the tool bar and window pallettes (Holding shift while pressing tab will just hide the pallets and leave the tool bar, holding crap and pressing tab while both are hidden will only show the toolbar)

Command+Y enables/disables CMYK Preview Mode while in RGB

D Key sets your Forground and Background colors to default (Black and White)

X Key swaps your Forground and Background colors

Command+E Merges down, Merges Sets, or Merges Linked Layers

And ever one should know this, but for those who don't, the COMMAND, CONTROL, OPTION, and SHIFT keys are modifiers for practically any Tool (including Free Transform)....

@TB command shift 4 allows you to choose your screen shot area while command shift 3 takes the whole screen.
