is anyone else excited that pitchers and catchers report in less then 2 months? I really don't mind football and basketball, but I have baseball fever allready... I can usually hold it off until Twinsfest (end of January)

I dont like baseball that mutch, but the good world series are fun to watch.
In one of my classes this guy is from Boston, Ma. So he is a big patriots/celtics/red socks fan. I used to like the Mariners when griffy was still there, but bleah they've sucked soooo bad. I how ever have been impressed with the Red Socks, and they picked up Josh Beckett from florida (saw that world series too, good pitcher).
To mention it, a MLB game was the only major sporting event that I've ever been to, went to Seattle to see Mariners vs Twins, my step dad being from Min. took us, Twins won, but i tell you what sucks, being in the middle of mariner territory next to him while he was hooting and yelling. I thought we where going to get killed.
We where there in the King Dome before they blew it up.
EDIT: I like basketball however, but being from Portland Or (only major league sport franchise), not much from that team or here in Utah, makes me want to root for either. Blazers had a decent team when they had all young players, at the time before they got pippen, and started trading off the young players for the trouble makers.

I don't watch sports on tv all that much, but I do enjoy seeing a game in person once in a while. No major league teams in our area, but we have semi-pro baseball and hockey locally.

Minor league/college teams are fun to watch too.
Portland had cheap tickets for the Portland Beaver games, fun to go to. Nothing like a build up of the anticipation for a grandslam, portland (vs fresno grizzlies) had gotten 3 people on base, 2 outs, and the next batter was down 2 strikes (from foul hits), and the crowd got into to it, it looked like it motivated the batter because he hit the ball out of the park for a homerun. Cool experience.

102 days till opening day - but who is counting, other than me. Cardinals report on the 15th of February, I believe. I'm not thrilled with the moves they have made so far, but maybe they aren't finished yet.
I was really hoping to get XM radio for Christmas so that I could listen to the baseball channel at work all day everyday. I will have to break down and get it before the spring training games start.
I started getting baseball fever about 20 minutes after the Cardinals lost to the Astros.

Baseball's dead for me (and for any former NY Mess fan with half a brain). But there's the NEW YORK RANGERS! Oh, and the Giants.

When the Cubbies decide not to suck, I will be interested again.

The Cubs and Mess have the same front office, the Inepto's.

you're a cards fan too jimintn? Beyond my beloved Twins from my hometown I love the cardinals (hey I can root for a national league team too!) It's too bad that they lost Larry Walker to retirement and Reggie Sanders to the Royals, the Twins have made a few moves this offseason i'm not too sure about either, but either way I'm excited for the season.

They were both pretty old, and Walker could hardly walk by the end of the season. just not sure about their replacements (Juan Encarnacion and Larry Bigbie). But if Rolen comes back healthy, that would be a big plus right there.
I can't believe the money pitchers are getting this offseason. I mean it's always ridiculous, but WOW! The White Sox got a huge bargain signing John Garland for 3/$29mil.
I wish I were a lot younger and could throw 93-95mph with my left arm.
Edit: Nothing against your Twins, but I sure am glad the Cards didn't sign Jacque Jones - too much money for what he gives.

The Cubs signed one of my favorite players, mr. Jaque Jones. With a healthy team and adding Jones, the Cubs should look pretty good this year.

I used to love the Marlins when they first debuted in the early 90's, mainly because I lived about 30 minutes from where they practiced. My entire room was full of Marlins crap.

well for all I know he could be a flop in Chicago... but for the sake of the cubs let's hope he's not, but maybe for the sake of the Cards let's hope he is?

I am really hoping to go to St louis for a game this year, but more realistically is going to Atlanta when the Cards are there. I haven't been the last couple of years, so it's time to go.

I disagree. Garland is a mediocre pitcher who pitched way over his head for 1/2 of a season. His peripheral stats do not back up that kind of commitment or money.
With that said, pitchers are going for WAY too much money this offseason.
Makes the Twins locking up Santana for four years at about 10 million per look pretty damned good right now.
I can't wait for baseball to fire up again. This year I need to decide which Twins hat to buy (the red "TC" hat only brought bad luck so I think I need to go back to a blue hat this season).

Yeah, I made my friend get rid of his red "TC" hat.
I am also due for a new twins hat before the season begins also
