I spent some time looking over reviews on different sites of 2005 and I have to say that the media sure is making 2005 out to be a real downer. Let's change that!!! Yes, it was a devastating year with the disasters, the war and all the ppl who pasted away. Just give me something to smile about as we look back on this year! Let's hear some good things. Let's give 2005 a more positive spin.
I didn't vomit in 2005. Though my record for 2006 is quite poor so far.

We still have 2.5 hrs to go until 2006 here in NY. I am sick but it's just as well. I am not much for crowds of drunk ppl.
I am glad your misery is bringing me laughter too! I appreciate it very much!! LOL!
You should've seen my efforts at cooking when i got home at 2 oclock (very early i might add). My dish consisted of uncooked rice, peas, onions (also uncooked), canned tomatos, sausages (cold), vinegar, olive oil, sugar and beer. I should've taken photos of the kitchen, but i really had to clean it up, because it stank!
excuse me a sec, i'm going to vomit somewhere, that isn't my precious mac. I may not return, Have a good one anyway!

Good thread Neuro!
Sure there were many downfalls in 2005...I hate all of the bad things in life that happen but I don't like to think negatively about life so I try not to focus too much on the bad things.
Personally the end of the 2005 (last 5-6 months) have been great for me. I mean I lost 34 lbs and counting and was reunited with the love of my life! What more could a sappy southern girl want? LOL
Cjoe - your dinner made me wanna puke and I haven't even drank anything! LOL

That's great Dzine!! This is exactly what I am looking for. We need to remember more positive things and not dwell so much on all the negative stuff.

It was a pretty tough year for me overall, I lost both my grandfathers and my grandmother went into the nursing home... but I'm trying to look at 06 as a fresh start, and some of the things I've had in the works should give me something to look forward to in the new year.

Morea and I are in upstate NY between Albany and Lake George. It's about 4 hours from the city. Definitely not a place I would want to be tonight. I just don't see the appeal in that?!

Ha! Congrats on the finishing your first year cjoe! See...we all have positive things to remember about 2005. Let the media try to make us think it wasn't a good year. It won't work on me! No way!!

05 wasn't too bad for me either. I got straight A's in the Spring semester and I bought a wedding dress! 06 should be much more exciting, though. Graduation, moving to Indy, and getting married (and hopefully finding a job).

Here's hoping that 06 is better than 04 and 05 for me. I wish I could say how awesome last year was, but frankly I can't think of much to be cheerful about. I'm glad everyone else had a good one though, and here's to another good one for you all!
I didn't get blitzed too bad, though I did have quite a bit. And I don't have a hangover...that's probably the best I can say about 2005, although I didn't really start throwing them back until it was technically 2006.

Here's to 06! :D
05 wasn't too bad, I got fired from my job - but that was probably the best thihg that happened all year. Aside from my new bikes.
So here's to the breezers!

well a little late but i'll add mine too :)
OF course this year in June on the 19th was the birth of my son, fittingly on father's day. Definitely the highlight of my year.
Also I was able to get my first SLR camera in July of 2005 to get into photography and i've loved every minute of it.
So with a new child and a camera....they go well together :)

I had a good 2005 over all. Like Tyger, I had a son born last year (March 18th), took billions of pictures of him, broke my digital camera on Halloween night, bought a better digicam two days later(and sold the broken one on ebay), paid cash for a Mercedes*, lost about 40lbs by eating sushi instead of tacos for lunch, got 365 more days with my wife, read more books than any other year I can remember (non-photoshop/GD books for a change!), sold my iPod mini and bought a 30GB iPod photo (the day before the video one came out), upgraded my ibook's HD, had more freelance jobs than ever, bought a beautiful Henkels 8" chef's knife, and got more involved at church.
* It was only $725 cash and it was a 1979 Diesel Mercedes (the best kind).

I feel like shit saying that 2005 was bad for me, because I know it was a shit-ton worse for a boatload of other folks...but in the scope of my life it was a bad time.
Lost my great uncle
My grandfather was diagnosed with Lieukemia
My other grandfather passed away Aug. 1
My mom had a bad surgery, and her health is poor.
My boyfriend dumped me to chase another free ride.
but so far this year had been great (2006
Met a new boy (perfecto!)
Got my tattoo
Getting a new car and a new computer...

2005 was a good year after much heartache and soul searching in the previous years my wife and found out we are finally having children....Triplets due on March 17. I don't know for sure (because we didn't want to) but I think they are all boys.

The number of people killed by the Indian Ocean tsunami rose to 230,000. A study showed that 310,000 Europeans die from air pollution each year, and the U.N. predicted that 90 million Africans will have HIV by 2025. An international task force of scientists, politicians, and business leaders warned that the world has about 10 years before global warming becomes irreversible. The U.S. Congress officially ratified President George W. Bush's election victory after a two-hour debate over voting irregularities in Ohio. Terri Schiavo, Johnnie Cochran, Frank Perdue, Mitch Hedberg, Arthur Miller, Saul Bellow, and the pope died, as did the man who wrote the theme song to “Gidget.” An Australian tortoise named Harriet turned 175. General Motors was spending more for health care than for steel, and an increasing number of Americans were heating their homes with corn. El Salvadoran police arrested 21 people for operating a smuggling operation and seized 24 tons of contraband cheese. NASA announced that it wanted to return to the moon.
A study found that the worldwide percentage of land stricken by drought has doubled within the last 30 years. The Jordan River was filled with sewage, and the last of Gaza's Jewish settlers left their homes on armored buses. Terrorists in London set off bombs on three trains and a bus, killing 52 people; President Bush condemned attacks on innocent folks by those with evil in their hearts. A 13-year-old boy in Kalamazoo accidentally burned down the family meth lab. New Orleans flooded after levees broke in the wake of Hurricane Katrina; many evacuees were not allowed to take their pets with them. “Snowball!” cried a little boy after police took away his dog. “Snowball!” At least 42,000 people died in an earthquake in Pakistan. It was announced that Cookie Monster would cut back on cookies. Authorities in Malaysia arrested 58 people who worship a giant teapot. Poor people rioted in France.
In North Carolina Kenneth Boyd became the 1,000th prisoner executed since the United States reintroduced the death penalty in 1976. A 1,600-inmate faith-based prison opened in Crawfordville, Florida. Police began random bag checks of subway passengers in New York City. It was revealed that the CIA had set up a secret system of prisons, called “black sites,” around the world; it was also revealed that the National Security Agency was spying on Americans without first obtaining warrants. Journalist Judith Miller was released from jail and said she wanted to hug her dog. U.S. Congressman Tom DeLay was arrested; U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney's Chief of Staff I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby was indicted. The Pentagon admitted to using white phosphorus during the 2004 attack on Fallujah, Iraq, and allocated $127 billion to build a robot army. The total number of American soldiers killed in the Iraq war rose to 2,174, while the total number of Iraqi civilians killed rose to 27,636. “We are all waiting for death,” said an Iraqi soldier, “like the moon waiting for sunset.” The U.S. Defense Department, in violation of the federal Privacy Act, was building a database of 30 million 16- to 25-year-olds. The Department of Homeland Security announced that it had wasted a great deal of money and needed much more. Starbucks came to Guantanamo Bay. Scientists began work on a complete, molecule-level computer simulation of the human brain. The project will take at least ten years.
