ouch, I got taken once on eBay a couple years ago - I bid on a dutch auction for a video game, the "store" was selling 50 copies at $50 each. I was among the winning bidders who paid and never received product.

Ebay went after the guy, and it turned out that he had run several auctions for games, movies, and collectible dolls - all sold to multiple users, under the guise of running a store.

When they contacted him using the personal information he listed in his profile, it was invalid, both the address and phone number belonging to an elderly woman who lived alone and didn't even own a computer.

Lots of predators out there. Wish I had more bleach. ;)

That totally sucks. After a quick calculation, this dude is making at least 30k in fake auctions in just a couple weeks. The actual number could be over 50k.

If it was anything like my situation, the guy may have had no feedback... he was set up as a "new store" - it wasn't until several of the auctions had closed that the negative comments started pouring in.

We can not afford this type of payment (Paypal). That why no more online payments which we cannot control. That should say it all.

That would be a red flag for me. If they do not except PayPal I don't deal with them. It also should alert ebay with excuses like this.

good point. Ebay is getting better about protecting buyers, too.

Honestly, the time I had a problem was before paypal existed. Haven't had any issues since.

I restrict myself when purchasing online by credit card or paypal. If there is a dispute in services/products rendered I'd rather have the bank or credit card company chase after them for the money.

I only pay cash (no money order's/cashiers checks, they are for making payments on bills) for something, by someone I can see. If they rip me off I'd so want to punch them in the face, but would probably result in me chewing them out.

This guy is going to get what he deserves, once the case gets to the FBI, they'll catch him.

Breaking an International Law means super big trouble.

Edit* I'd rather do paypal, cause your not giving out the credit card number to someone.

The bidders/buyers deserve what they get. READ THE FEEDBACK COMMENTS AND SCORES BEFORE BIDDING.

A couple of bad feedbacks is enough for me not too bid at all.

i hate paypal though.
someone disputes something with you, and you only have 3 options:
return the money
show proof of shipping
let paypal decide (return the money)
I got burned by a former friend who paypal'd me 275 to order a part for him, to which he was supposed to come pick up. He never did, and filed a complaint saying that he never received it, even though he knew I had it, and he was supposed to come get it from me.
He never said that he wanted it asap, or anything, said he was in no hurry. Then one day he filed that and became a real *******. I turned around and posted it on a couple message boards for cars (it was a high dollar fuel pump) and sold it within 10 hours, and made money, and refunded his money.
He was pissed...... Guess he shouldn't have been a jackass about it.
But that said, paypal had no option to dispute, or talk to anyone about it. Nothing, notta, zilch.

A couple of bad feedbacks is enough for me not too bid at all.I was about to say the same thing, but the thing is up until about Dec 13 he had nearly all positive feedbacks, and most of these happened around the same time (13-19) so the negative feedback that's there probably didn't get posted until a while after these people already placed their orders. So all of those people who got ripped off probably wouldn't have seen any negative feedback anyways.

I will say that the little bit about the payments that he accepts and doesn't accept should be enough to scare people off.

Through paypal, you register with a Credit Card account or your Bank Card (Debit/credit checking/savings account), If you have issues with paypal, then you can still dispute the issue with your bank and credit card company. They will take it to paypal. Just got to whip'm with the muscles of bank/credit card companies :).

I've seen this issue a while back, they ended up resorting to his bank, and they where able to get his money back. Even through paypal.

Edit* I showed a co-worker this, and he (a big ebayer) said the account must have been stolen via an email scam.
