So, does anyone else play this game often or did i just make a HUGE ASS DORK out of myself again???

My first MMORPG was Final Fantasy 11. I became very obsessed with it for 6 months, which was quite detrimental to my marriage since my wife hates video games (lucky me). Needless to say I havent picked up another mmorpg since.

use too...gave it up about 3 months ago. I had a level 60 hunter on a pvp server with all the best items I could get without having to play the raid dungeons. I stopped playing when they completely fuct up the pvp playing, also the world itself was just to small for me...not as epically large as Everquest

I picked up the Neverwinter Nights Diamond package. One of these weekends Morea. Still kinda new at it. We'll have to set up a GDF NWN Adventure. lol

I used to play EQ, for 5 years. once they raised the $/mo to 14.99, I quit. The game doesnt justify that amount, not since when I started playing I only paid 9.99/mo, plus the game started to really really suck.

Only other MMORPG I've gotten into is Guild Wars, but I havent had a chance yet to test its limits yet.

I'm not really interested in the other MMORPG's EQ2, WoW, FF, CoH.

Only if they came out with something a bit more interesting, with out costing alot per month.

Ooh, I am so there!

I haven't played a whole lot of neverwinter yet, so I'm still a little new to it, too. I go back and forth between that and BG but I got caught up in a plot point a while ago in BG so I've been devoting more time to that one.

Are you playing the first BG or 2nd? I have both, lost cd's on the first so cant play that anymore.

Loved using this character modifier, so i can modify the apperance of characters.. Kinda cool going through the game as a Minotaur (Fighter class).

I like the plots in NWN but sometimes its just a blah blah blah to me. guess thats from the long days.

Do you have the expansion for BG2? ToB?

The Underdark is hard, but its fun with other people.

I wished they made a Fallout MMORPG game.

I have those Fallout 1 and 2 that I cant get to work on Win XP. :(

Still have my Diablo 1 and Hellfire cd's, aswell as Diablo 2, unfortunatly my desktop at home (not laptop) had an older cd player in it, that started to juggle the cd, the spinner was jumping up and down /\/\/\/\ through the cd center and cracked the installation/play cd.

Fun times, had a 50 legit paladin in the server where the character is not on your system, so everything was supposed to be legit. I had some awsome gear on him. But, I lacked playing it for 4 months (lack of internet), so they delete accounts and characters after 3 mo of inactivity, and I lost him.

I do have ToB but haven't played it yet. I'm playing an elven Kensai (sword saint) - a variation on the fighter class with awesome abilities but she can't wear armor - and that is SO frustrating!

Haven't played fallout either.

Man, level 50? I've never gone that high... I think my rogue was a level 27 or 28, and eventually the same thing happened to me. I wish there was a way to back your characters up! grr...

Kensai is a good class mod.

Back in the old D&D ways, when you could Multi class, it was the best, the new NWN is kinda wierd with out it.

You could play a Fighter/cleric/mage or Fighter/cleric/thief and you where set to solo lol. In NWN its prestige classes (WTF is that?).

I don't really have time for MMORPGs. Don't feel like killing rats for eight hours to go up one experience level, but I hear World of Warcraft fixes a lot of things wrong with those kinds of games anyway.

The only online games I play is on XBox Live (easier in shorter sessions), but unfortunately none of my friends have the service (let alone 360s) or are interested, and I don't know anyone else who has it for that matter. :(

morea
01-04-2006, 01:21 PM
I was really bummed because I read something that said that a Kensai could take levels in mage (since neither can wear armor) and it makes for a really powerful character.

So the next time I hit a level up, I went to dual class - and realized that since I am an elf I CAN'T dual class. What a bunch of horse puckey. LOL! With a life span of hundreds of years, wouldn't an elf be MORE likely to multi class? Bah!

I think a Fallout online world would be awesome, they got lots of variety in there to keep things interesting. I played BOS online a bit and it went sooo fast I didn't have a clue what was going on. I love playing just the campaign though in the turn based mode.

I've been doing board games lately. Crap like Twilight Imperium, Game of Thrones, Starfarers of Catan, Axis and Allies, Shogun, Godstorm Risk - the type of games that take like 12 hours to play a game. That's some hardcore geek stuff. They're fun games and all, I just wish they didn't take so long to play.

Navian

You could combine like a few games to make it interesting.

Like adding a rule while playing monopoly, if you land on someones property, instead of paying them out cash, you could challenge them to say a game of risk, or chess/checkers, or a short hand of poker; alter another game, make it interesting too.

Mingle your board and card games, its about fun, but using the overall structure rules, not breaking them but bending or altering them to improve it.

Starfarers of Catan (or the "Phallus game" as I call it) and Axis & Allies are great.

LeftBrain, you should check out the card game Munchkin if you like "real" games. My friends and I have spent many a hung over Saturday playing that game for hours and hours and hours... It's absolutely hilarious. The whole point is to screw over your opponent as much as humanly possible. It leads to some great situations.

http://www.sjgames.com/munchkin/game/

With cards like "Monster the GM just made up" and "Cheat!" and the line in the instructions saying "roll dice to see who goes first then argue about the outcome", you know it has to be a great game.

I've played Munchkin before - that's another fun one too, last time we played we had six players though, it went about 6 hours! There's a Vampire version of that game too. I like how its states anything that's not clear in the rules should be resolved by petty bickering in loud annoying voices, and the owner of the game gets final say.

I've also played some card game called "Guillotine" that's pretty good. And its relatively quick.
http://www.boardgamegeek.com/game/116

Mynock, that "Samurai Swords" game is the same thing as "Shogun", just alternate names - where you've got the board laid out as fuedal Japan with a gazillion provinces, you get money based on how many provinces you control which you then use to buy fortresses, troops, and bid for the ninja and turn order (represented by black samurai swords with dots on them). Yeah, we still play that every once in a while, its currently in my custody.

I never much cared for Risk, but we recently tried out a new version called GodStorm, where you play on ancient Europe as Barbarian tribes, and you get the Gods of War, Death, Magic, and Wind to supplement your armies with special powers, and when troops get killed, they get moved to the UnderWorld board where they can fight again and possibly be brought back. That's a pretty neat one.

Well back to what this was about...hehehe:D I AM A HUGE DORK! I play on the Thundedrlord server I have a 46 dwarf warrior by the name of Omoran, which should be 60 in the next month or so. Also, a 19 dwarf hunter that is pimped to rape Horde in Warson Gultch. Thinking he maybe the next to move up. I have one of every class on the Alliance side. Ranging any where from level 3 to 17 I believe. To whoever said it wasn't big enough land....the Burning Crusade, expansion pack, should be in the area of doubling the current usable area. Adding the Outlands which is for the 60+ group. Then also there is a new area for The Horde's new race, Blood Elves. There was a leak saying that the Alliance is getting some type of "elder human". Not sure if there will be a new area or not for them. If there is then you're looking more then doubling the current area. Now to the the 15 bucks a month issue...I was the same way, no way in hell will I pay that when I was currently a Halo nut at the time. Well, I worked with a few people that were talking about. Got it cheap game cheap for like $20 and tried the free month...OMG! So worth it to me. I ened up doing the 6 months at a time which brings it down to like 12.99 a month. $74ish altogether. So, yeah i'm a huge dork like I said before. If anyone is interested let me know and I can set you up nicely on Thunderlord. Also, get you in to a pretty decent guild.:D

So far this game does fix a lot of things that annoyed me about other MMORPGs. The only problem nearly ALL these RPG's have is that these games make it nearly impossible to hook up with your friends if they're scattered around different servers. As Penny Arcade put it so elegantly, you have to create a new character and you're back to level retarded.

Even if it costs a small fee, add in the ability to change servers, is that so hard? <shrugs>

Ahh, alright cool. This is very true. Then again if they offered that Medivh would be slammed right now. They're the first one to open the AQ Gates. The only real thing that bothers me is the PvP policy. If you're on a PvP server you'll find out what I mean when ya hit Stranglethorn Vale. You'll get corpse camped like 6-7 times. Blizz only response is they'll get a dishonorable kill and stop. That's all good and stuff but the dishonorable kill doesn't do much to them when a 60 can go into Altearic Valley one time and get close to 2,000 honor! Other wise I love it like crack! Paladins owned in 2, till they changed the thorns (not doing as much damage), zeal (from 20 hits to 5), fanaticism (not as fast), and redemption (doesnt recover mana/health as much as it used to) top 4 bound skills, i cycled through those like no tomorrow. I just hated those hackers.

Hackers cant play a game without cheating, which means they suck! lol

D2 was like crack to me ... a full 3d Diablo set in heaven vs. an attacking hell ... that sounds too pancaking sweet. Anyone up for a Baal run for old times sake?

Wow soj's bring back memories - that game was also like crack to me. When i was 19 I took a year off (of everything) and just played that game it seems. I had 3 mules full of duped soj's they became worthless - then a patch came out and ruined my zon, and it was too expensive for repairs on my barb - I quit playing!

EDIT: oh and I didn't need to cheat, but it gets boring - just like SoCom is boring now so every now and again I like to hop inside a box or wall... but it doesn't mean I HAVE to cheat, but it just give a little "spice" to the same old thing! Some say find a new game - but I like the games, I just get bored with them.

so superbowl sunday my friend was playing WoW on his computer, I was thinking oh looks mostly the same, even though new patches have come out, he asked if I wanted to play.

Fearing the addiction, and standing on my solid stance that the world is to small I replied no, I did it, I am free of the world of warcraft...BAHAHAHAHAHAA
