Post your entries here (one per member). Cut off date for submitting photos will be Sunday January 29.

You can host photos for free at www.thecreativeforum.com, which will also allow you to put your images into the GDF Photo Gallery... (when you upload a photo, just select a GDF destination from the dropdown menu) please don't upload attachments, as they don't carry over properly into the voting thread.

Editing software may be used for usual processing (cropping, tonal and color adjustments, resizing), but no outside elements, objects, or images can be pasted, drawn or added into the original image. No elements, objects, or images can be cloned, cut out, or taken out of the original image other than what occurs from cropping.

The theme is: "backlighting". Happy shooting!

Nothing too fancy here. The only criteria we're looking for is that the scene is lit by light coming from behind the subject/object.

I hope this one fits your criteria:

It's hard to do backlighting when in Minnesota and I haven't seen the sun in like 4 days.

Here's a shot I got while in Mexico a few weeks ago:

This is the first photo I have uploaded there. I was signed it but it showed me as being unregistered. Not sure why. Anyway, here's the link. I'm not sure how to get it to show here.

::yes I'm a newbie to this site (creativeforum):: =)

edit: ok, I put up a different photo and did it correctly. Yippee!! I will have to contact the admin to get rid of the unregistered listing.

I just want to say that I am really impressed with how everyone stepped up to the plate the last couple of months and made this photo competitions fierce. It makes everyone strive for better photos. I think it sure shows this month!!

Great job everyone and I can't wait to see how this one turns out. It's going to be a close one!!

Great stuff in the gallery Mynock, I just love anyhting outdoors makes me wish I worked outside. I live near the largest lake in New Jersey, Lake Hopatcong and I fish every chance I get. Even if I don't catch anything just being on the lake at the crack of dawn when everything is quiet and you can here all the wildlife is priceless.

Of course, a bad day of fishing is better then a good day at work.

Here's another backlit one of the corn cob water tower in Rochester. I'll use the first unless people can talk me out of it.

Definitely the first one. More nature less water tower.

Mynock
01-10-2006, 01:47 PM
I didn't think this was a good shot until like a few months later. I looked at it and was like, "this is a cool pic." The cob is framed. The trees are balanced and have movement. The two smaller ones balance the larger one on the right. I could do without the basketball hoop though.

Logo-Mechanix

It is a good shot but I liked the first one as sson as I saw this one, just an opinion though wait awhile and see what everybody else thinks.

This image is a movie still taken with my digital camera. Its a prilimenary flash before a bolt that hit the ground behind the mountains in the distance. This was during a storm last summer in the hills of PA near the Lehigh river.

who said a lightning bolt isnt as hot as the sun? well maybe for only a fraction of a second. The above still is only 1 frame that captured this and my camera was running at 15 frames per second.
