i once heard there was a european company with a utility/extension that enabled indesign users to use "kern tables" as is available in quark. can someone help me to locate that app/company? thanks.

You'll have to explain further what you mean by 'kerning tables'. Kerning is something done to text, not tables.

InDesign CS2's table facility is great. You can set row height and column width, place text top, middle, bottom of cell, merge or divide cells, indent text by any amount from any cell borders, add colour to table cells and borders, apply a number of preset table formatting designs, etc. So what exactly do you want to be able to do?

kerning pairs tables have always been a part of quark. you can kern pairs of letters in the kern table and that kern between those two letters will be used for that particular font when ever those letters are typed into a quark document.
