I'm not an audiophile, so I don't know anything about equalizer settings other than what presets are in the device I use. I have my iPod hooked into my car through a casette adapter.

When listening to rock, for example, should I set my iPod eq. to ROCK AND my car stereo to ROCK too, or is that overkill? Should I set my iPod equalizer setting to "OFF" and set my car to ROCK?

I'm so confused, but don't want to jack up my speakers with too much bass.

I'd bet if you put your sterio to stock levels (normal settings) and just tweaked with your Ipod, it should be fine. I have no idea what will happen if you put both on the same setting, it might sound wierd.

Typically with EQ settings and when you are running through multiple devices, I find that having the EQ set on the last device (this case, your car stereo) is the best while keeping your iPod set to normal, more or less retaining it's original audio quality until the signal is sent through the car stereo receiver. Otherwise, you are simply doubling/tripling/quadrupling (?) the effect and it won't sound very good.

Kind of like compressing audio in flash; I usually keep the source material in full, unadultered WAV format when working in the FLA, and when I export from Flash that's when it's converted to an mp3, rather than being compressed twice.

Makes sense. Now I remember doing that with a portable cd player in a tape deck (in a car), tweaking the cd player equilizer (balance) fudged up the sound.

Neither do I. They are an overpriced walkman/mp3 player

Whatever the next big beloved portable entertainment device will be, they're going to be saying they're just an overpriced iPod ;)

I don't have a use for one. I don't jog, ride bikes, commute on subways/trains, etc.

I try to get to the gym as often as possible, so the Nano with an armband is fantastic. I hate working out and having clutter and music players in my hand.

I also use it frequently in my car with a casette adapter, to listen to podcasts, and at work. It is great, but I am a nut for radio/music being on at all times.

I wish my last one didn't break down, that piece of sh!t, because at the gym I work out at I have to listen to blasted oldies or watch horrendous Fox News all the time because that's what all these rich folks like at this gym. If I were closer to the one downtown, I'd jump there in a minute. When they played Super Charger Heaven on the radio station it was set to, I damn near signed up...it's like 15 minutes just to get there from work, though. Seriously, who the hell listens to "Pretty Woman" when bustin' a squat?
