I know everyone here hates fixing people's logo's but I'm an inexperienced idiot and I desperatelty need help.

I created a logo in illustrator using a image I had and then added text. Now I need to remove the background which Iv'e done but when I go back to photoshop to make the path the tolerance won't go low enough, so my logo ends up looking fuzzy. How can I clean up the edges of the image to make them sharper?

I doubt you're an idiot. :p

Since you created the logo in Illy, is it safe to assume it's in vector format? I mean, when you say you created it 'using an image', did you redraw it with the pen tool?

Why do you need to bring it into photoshop?

no i didn't re draw, I brought it into photoshop to remove the background. If I went back and redraw would I have to just redraw the image or the text that was added in ill also. There should be some step by step guide for creatign a workable logo somewhere.

I was wondering if the image might be giving you trouble because it is actually in raster format, even though it was done in Illy.

This article might help you to understand what I mean:

as for the text, you may have to redraw it, if you don't have the font.

You can upload sample text to www.whatthefont.com and they might be able to give you the name of the font so you can check and see if you have it.

If you want to post an image here, we might be able to see what you're having trouble with and offer advice better tailored to your dilemma.

if you aren't sure how to post the image, here are the directions:

The preferred method seems to be linking your image into your post, so that members who view your thread don't have to click a link to go view your image.

You can host images for free at www.imageshack.us, and also at our sister site www.thecreativeforum.com.

Once you have uploaded the image, you can link it into your post using image tags, like this:

depends partially on the version of Illy you're using. CS2 has a livetrace feature, but I've heard that it isn't terribly accurate.

Otherwise, it's likely a matter of using the pen tool to redraw the thing as a vector. It's a little time consuming if you're new to it, but definitely a skill that you will want to have.

Or, if you'd rather someone else take care of it for you, you can always post it in the 'classifieds' section, and someone here may have the time to do it for you for a small fee (based on the complexity of the image and how long it would take them).

The best way to turn a raster image into a vectot image is to redraw using the pen tool. This is time consuming and takes some practice but in my experience the text is the worse I hate redrawing that I usually convince my clients to allow me to match it as close as possible or I have to hit them with an extra charge.

Thanks, I know want the font is so I guess that's not a problem. It's just the image. Although I'd really really like to learn how to do this myself I think I'll just stuck it up and post it in the classifieds to see how much it would cost to finish it.

Thanks you two
