i'm looking for a way to create infrared-style pictures from the ones i have…
does anybody have a how to?

Give this a try I guess... Honestly didn't try it yet. I'm feeling particularly lazy right now.

I found something that might be of use.
I know alot of you dont like filters, BUT, there is a Color Infared Filter free download for photoshop here (http://www.reminiscingvisions.com/filters/description/cir.html). Seems like it might work.
I havent tried them, but they sound interesting, I bookmarked them and I'll have to check them out later.

That's how I am learning Photoshop also and that does look kind of infrared sorta like what the predator saw in the movie. You could probobly achieve adjustments like that in other programs just by playing with image controls like the hue and color balance.

I hear that, what do most of you use photoshop for? Just editing phots I presume. I just got the program and have been playing around with it. I have found so far that you can adjust your digital photos and make them look alot better. Removing the red eye works great as well as brightening and cropping but i haven't really gotten to far along with it.

Seriously though, sometimes I'll use it when slapping together some comps for a site redesign, or use it for a quick layout comp. Otherwise, mostly for photo/image retouching that I'll use for Quark docs.

I use photoshop to create emails and letters. I like the text editor. Oh, I also use it to add lens flares to images, people love that :)

Infrared photos are monochrome.
