I have an offer to trade my 3000 for a 1200 and can't find reviews for the 1200. Im using this for graphic output, comps, etc. Anyone have an opinion?

Well, I just got rid of my Epson (I'd have to go out in the cold to the garage to tell you which model).
While I found the quality of the Epson to be decent for about a year, it sucks ink like it's water and at $35 for the color and $28 for the black and white... that's friggin' crazy. And after that first year, it starts getting muddy and there are lines in your prints - even after you clean the print heads.
I just bought a Canon MP780 - so far the quality is fairly close to the Epson and it doesn't use as much ink - the inks are also refillable and recycleable (neither of which is true with Epson) and the ink is cheaper too.

does anyone know how the 1200 stacks to the 3000 though?

I use a 3000 for layout comps. Love it.
Just a quick bit of research showed me that the 1200 uses only 2 cartridges. You run out of CMYcm, you replace the whole cartridge.
Both have the same print resolution.
The 1200 doesn't take the larger 17" wide paper
About the only thing going for the 1200 is it is 6 color. Is it worth it to you to trade off printable area and ink cartridge replacement for the extra two colors? Seems like a step down IMO.
