Well, I know Painter 6 wasn't actually owned by Corel, and it IS old. I've tried almost all of the other Painters, but this one is the one that I like the most. And since it's old-ish, I've been looking all over the net for help, but no such luck, so I hope someone here can help.

Anyway, the problem is that the program seems to lag on my computer. I'm not sure if it's the program itself or something wonky set up on my system. The issue is that half of the time, a brush stroke won't appear until I start another brush stroke. I think it's a display problem with Painter, but I'm not sure. I AM using a WACOM Graphire 3 with the program, running Windows XP Home Edition, with 512MB RAM, and a 30GB hard drive.

Can someone offer some help on this?

I really appreciate it. Thanks everyone!

Have ya changed the memory settings? if ya haven't allocate more then default 20% for it.

it mite be an issue of the program in xp environment and it most likely is that.

Hi Devlin,

I have the same problem with Painter 6 on my Windows2k platform but I don't want to switch to Painter 8 because it's not user friendly and unnecessary slow. I'm trying to install Painter 6 on a WindowsXP platform, but I keep getting a pop-up saying 'there is not enough free memory to run Painter' when I run the program. The fact is that I have plenty memory available, so that can't be the real problem. How did you get Painter6 to run on XP? I've also tried running it in a Windows 2k/95/98 environment with XP, without success.

Can someone help me out with this?
