What might be the problem? Here's the deal...

I'm working in Adobe Illustrator 10. I have placed a Photoshop eps file that has a clipping path into my illy file and it looks good.

Then I close the file, and when I open it back up to edit it, the image is not showing up. It is there...I can see it in my 'links' window, but there is no preview in the links window and when I click on the image you can see the square outline where the file is, but no image. All of my placed 'tif' images are still showing up.

Now, I've tried re-saving in PS but every time I open the file it disappears.

Any ideas what this could be and how to correct it. For right now, I've embedded the file, but I hate that as it makes the file slower to open and save.

Any help would be greatly appreciated...I've got 20 packaging files and they are all like this and it's driving me friggin' crazy!!

Thanks!!!!!!

are ya getting an error when you open the file, sound like it just is not finding the link, is it in the same folder. Or check you photoshop eps option when your saving, like bitmap. ascii, jpeg what is selected? That can affect it not showing up

No errors when I open the file. As I said, the tif files that are placed are all showing up, and they are in the same folder location on our server.

When I save the eps my 'Preview' is Macintosh (8 bits/pixel) and the 'Encoding' is set to binary. None of the other boxes are 'checked'.

Could any of this be a problem? I also tried my 'Preview' as 8 bit jpg, but that made no difference either.

Thanks!

you preview has nothing to with that stuff, your preview is exactly what it is for the preview of the file
