I used to feel like that. But you can be what you want to be so if you don't want to suck you don't have to.
Design is based on what you see. If you can't think of anything good just try to do what you see that looks good. This will help you develop a style. Once you have a style you'll be on your way.
Don't worry about your work. Just keep them comming and you'll be fine.
Experiement. One thing I do is before I design anything I look at about 50 other peices of work that are really good. This helps stimulate my thoughts and I always bang out better work when I do that.

What's good and what isn't is opinion, and everyone has a different idea about what that consists of. It's just that sometimes the people that think our stuff isn't good happens to be the ones to sign our paychecks...but you have to just grin and coneal a sword behind a smile.

hehe well i used to make those lil ppl on the palace i started out with that.. (not those big ones but the smaller nicer ones.. lol) i ran a clan (elite editors) with the editz and designs and stuff.. hehe.. it was cool 2 me when i saw ppl would make stuff from a design i did.
then i used paint shop pro to make lil tags for my ppl lol. i then made stupid very n00b graphics and then got outta it..
i didnt really get into it hardcore untill the last year. i am now in school for it.. (started Jan) and i got 4.o'z in school. I feel as tho i was still lacking.. ill do tutorials and they will never work out to what it should look like..
i guess im just thinkin damn.. ill never get there..

yah i have noticed that the more i do something each newer version looks better.. like i totally redid the layout on that website i am doing and it looks 50 times better then the last lol..
i make my mom push me to do better because when she does i am a lot better

i don't know about any else but i've always had that feeling...
i've been using photoshop on an almost daily basis since version 3 and i still feel like i'm not up to par yet.

You guys and gals aren't alone...EVERYBODY has those days. There are times when nothing seems to be working and everything you produce looks like sh!t and getting a job as a ditch digger sounds like a good alternative! It happens to me at least once a week. Just stick to it and always teach yourself new things, it's the only way to get by.

People... noobs, it takes time. Everyone wants that brass ring. but few get it right away. you need to move up. I think it took a good 6 years of working full time in this industry until I was comfortable with my design. that isn't to say that I don't look at some stuff and say 'Man is this sh!t or what'. Not everything is going to be a homerun. BUT everything should be professional.
Everyone in here has or is going through what you are.
Being a memeber of this forum is just going to help even more.

Defjoe's right. I work in a printshop for heck's sake. Most of the time I'm doing stupid, far below my talent 'date or type' changes...but when something, even tiny comes along that I get to put together from scratch, and you do what you can with it, and as joe said, do it right.

I couldn't agree more. Just make it professional. We all want that award winning design but the truth is that 90% of the time it depends on who we work for more so then what we can do. But when that 10% comes along enjoy it and love it. I live for that 10%!
