Things were kinda slow yesterday, so I did a little doodling in Illustrator. Do you guys ever do this sort of thing?

And oh yes, I sure do. My latest thing is celtic knots.

I doodle all the time when I am bored, sometimes you learn something new about a program when your just messing around and some cool things come out of it once in a while. My local hardware store carries a machine just like that.

It's obviously a fusion power generator. Or, maybe it's a cat litter evaporator. I think it could also be used to turn used diapers into champagne.

Actually I'm starting out a little hobby illustration, I was inspired by Manga Sprai, I grabbed an image of a chick over at Domai (don't look right now that site is not work safe) for photo reference and I'm working on a little elvish archer. I dont know if I should do it as vector or make it more painterly

I'll post once I work out how I'm gonna do this...I should also do some progress shots so people can see it as a work in progress.

I love illy, so fun

Thats cool Morea. I enjoy making knotworks. I like building them in Autocad, I'll post later tonight the front and back cover of a catalog assignment I did.

I have a love/hate relationship with Illustrator, so I don't do too much in it for my own amusement. lol. Freehand drawing in Photoshop tends to be my thing.

Pretty cool, though.

morea, I love stuff like that. In the Illustrator 8 WOW book I bought 100 years ago, there was a knot like that made entirely with type. It was beautiful! Maybe I'll scan it and put it up later today.

There are some cool looking doodles/illustrations going on in here. Here is a set that has evolved over about 3 months, when I get a few minutes I work on them.

very cool! Nice job on the hands. I always find them very tricky.

This one is a vector I was working at on and off for a while, just for fun. Some of you have probably seen it before.

Here is that knotwork project I created, Morea. It's for a small 8 page catalog, the image is the front and back cover (hence the line in the middle).

There where really no constraints for the project.

Okay, I know a few of you are waiting to rip on a piece of mine, so.... knock yourself out.

*EDIT* Damn those sites! Eventualy! I'll have a place of my own :(

*EDIT2*There we go.

10 min in Autocad, 3 min in Illustrator for vector conversion, then about 30 min in Photoshop to add the line and background tweaks.

I know I posted this before. When I have spare time I like to create implements of destruction.

When I first viewed it the picture didn't show up - but I like the picture now that I can see it! nice work - I haven't messed around in any of these programs in quite a while, it's about time I started though.

Thats sword is awsome Logo. It looks almost like the one I put in the catalog I made: (site is not the catalog) Heavy Metal 25th Anniversary Movie Sword Replica (http://www.excaliburbrothers.com/members/697427/uploaded/20-HM1LTDL.jpg)

Satch.. I didnt know thats what showed up. :(

EDIT* LOL, this is funny, after all the times of looking at that image, I thought everything on it was fine/good to go, except after looking at it again, I spotted an oopsy, It has to do with the pattern lines, nothing else..

Here is a quiz: Can you spot the line that isn't supposed to be there?

Thanks Navian, I will have to check out that link tonight when I get home (damn web surfing rules here at work). I was always a fan of the Heavy Metal art, those magazines had some awesome illustration in them.

excellent. Isn't it funny that we all have sort of similar interests, as far as the celtic / medieval / weaponry type stuff?

Navian

LOL yeah. I was watching PBS's Nova on Sunday, and they where showing these a bunch of people trying to make/replicate a trebuchet (http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/lostempires/trebuchet/) (a siege weapon) off of some historic drawings. They used a 300 lb stone they cut to a round ball. Took them a few tries to get the distance/arc down, but they had a simulated castle wall, and the 300 lb rock pierced it like a bullet. Very interesting to watch.

Wow Navian your first home you must be really excited, my wife and I purchased our first home about 7 years ago. It is kind of funny, so many of us having a common interest, which I have had since I can remember.

I have never been completely sane I don't beleive any artist is or we would be plumbers. It really wasn't that bad, I get along with my inlaws really well, my father inlaw and I are very close, my mother inlaw can be a pain sometimes but if it wasn't for them it would have taken me alot longer to buy the house.
