probably not since its a digital Video Camera. If it was a still image 5.1 megapixel camera you coul blow that up to a 20X30 @ 150 dpi and really not see any loss in quality. But im highly doubting that a video camera can take high res still shots.

nauff,
Don't bother with this camera if you're concerned about using the photos for print and quality work.
In addition to mega pixel ratings, there's various RGB technologies in different digital cameras, some are better systems than others that yield far superior results. You can be rest assured the more expensive cameras are going to have better systems and higher mega pixel capabilities.
It would be cheaper to find a professional manual camera, (on ebay) develop the negatives and buy a mid grade scanner, that can handle negatives. (don't bother getting them developed at 1 hour photo, they don't know anything about tweaking exposure or cropping) You'd get superior results and there's a warmth to film that digital camera's (mainly the compact ones) can't touch.
Otherwise, you're going to easily spend over $1200 to land yourself a professional digital camera that will probably come with just a wide angle lens.
Telephoto lenses, etc., will have to be purchased separately.
If you're serious about shooting your own photos to use in your designs for print, you need at least 300dpi tiff if you want that CMYK print quality. Most mainstream compact digitalis only over jpeg compression output. This puts a lot of jpeg artifacts in your image. You'll struggle to feel like you're getting the max quality that you can.
If you have the money, go for it, it's a total investment and much much cheaper than a subscription to an online stock photo site in the long run. Plus, you get to control the media that you use and tack on another title of Photographer next to your existing title of G.Designer.

I wouldn't be all that thrilled with the video this camera will take either. I think the key line is "The perfect first time digital video camera". You'll be disappointed. Camera's that do both haven't made it yet. For movies, buy a movie camera. For stills, but a good still camera. Save your money for a good camera.

For that price you can get a used canon in good shape on eBay that, even though lower megapixel, will give you much better pictures.
