Ok...so heres the deal. I get 2 free computers from work /emoticons/specool.gif and they are in great shape....all except for the monitor, but I'll fix that problem with ease. But I now want to attempt to tackle the task of networking a MAC with a devilish PC. Now I've been reading all kinds of stuff on the web about how to make it work, and this and that and so on but so far no luck. I'd like to have this set up so that I can share an internet connection between the 2 as well as file sharing. Any tips or helpful sites anyone can point me too?

At least I now have something to do this weekend.

well I've gotten some info and stuff of the net so when I get home this evening, I'm going to run through those things to see if any of it works. Hopefully I'll have some success very fast.

Oh hey if you wanna just network them all to the web, no problems man, you have plenty of options, wi-fi, or router. I run 2 macs and 2 pcs at home right now of a D-Link DI-704P 4 port router with no problems. Now getting them to all communicate with each other is a different story. Now your talkin software so that the different codes both platforms use can communicate with each other. Last time I saw 'Dave' it was like $500.00 or some insane price like that, ive never really looked into other software packages, and I do not have my pc's and mac's yappin back and forth, strictly just on the net together. Good luck, networking can be a real pain in the arse!!

update:
I have the PC and MAC successfully connected to share files between the 2. Now, I think I am not coming to find that maybe it isn't possible to have file sharing and internet connection simultaneously on both. Its either File sharing or a net connection I guess. I have yet to get the two systems connected to the net though so I guess I'll try that next.

Get a Router. One with a firewall you can mess with.
I have 2 macs and a PC on a router and can connect to the internet all at the same time. The two macs can talk to each other and I can dump files to the pc with OSX but not vice versa.

PrintDriver is a large format digital print dude. His advice/opinions may not apply to the 4color/offset/web world of printing

another update:
My friendly broadband service couldn't help me pretty much at all getting the router authencated on their server so that I can get online with the PC and Mac. I'm not so sure i'm gonna go any further with this any more since I know I can get online on both, just not at the same time and I know I at least can swap files between the two. I'll do some more investigating maybe tommorow but for now I am certainly satisfied with at least the 2 able to talk to each other.

Thanks for all your help everyone!
Now I gotta find some mac software so I can really use the thing.
