CERTAINLY!!!
Nasty ass ice storm going on right now, with winter storm warnings every where else. Just tried to drive up and once I got to the first big hill of many...panckake that. I'm not risking my life for that. It's hailing right now, and thundering as I speak (but I'm on a laptop so I'm good). Since we're not connected to a major highway, the normal highway has been left untouched by plows and salt. Over a hundred cancellations around here, which is a lot considering the population density. And to think two days ago it was about 50 degrees.
Oh, whoops. I done screwed up.

uh oh, yesterday it was 50 degrees here (yes, in NY in February. I can't explain it.) - I hope we don't get a nasty hail storm tomorrow!

That northeren edge of that same system is about 20 miles south of us right now. I expected to wake up to a pile of snow but so far have dodged the bullet. Thunder in February - cool!

Yeah, this storm seems to be saying "Iowa!?! ***** IOWA!!!" and hitting us directly. Hell, the thing is probably evaporating as soon as it gets across the river to Illinois, but I can't tell because the entire river is giving off that cold fog steam whatever it's called, so I can't see past it.

It was 63 yesterday, and today it will be 66. I am SO EXCITED because for 2 weeks it has been nothing but bitter cold outside.
Edit: I just double-checked the weather: they're saying 72 will be the high now! WOOOOOOOO!!!!!

It was beautiful here in lovely east TN yesterday too. As for blizzard '06, there was a whole inch of snow on my back porch Sunday and Monday morning. I'm sure the grocery stores were totally blown out anyway. I swear the weatherman gets a kickback on the extra grocery biz when the threat of possible snowfall is mentioned on air. I swear the local weatherman's sportcoats get nicer and nicer...

schools close and SOME places will let you stay home when the weather is too miserable to travel - and justifiably so!
but I think the reverse should also be true... when it's simply too nice a day to spend at work, they should let you take those off as "freebies" too.

Morea, I propose a Constitutional ammendment to that effect. As the Admiral of Turd Pickling, such a proposition is well within my purvue.

Well, yesterday at about 12noon (MST), it started snowing, and it didnt stop till really late last night. Took me almost 1-1/2 hrs to get from work to school, where normaly it takes 20min.
So, when I got up this morning & went out to clear the snow, I grabbed a measuring tape and stuck it in the snow (on the sidewalk), the snow came up to 8-1/2". BUT on the news they said "there will be more snow for the next couple of days"
Hey Kool, hope your doing fine where ever you are at in the Salt Lake valley.

It started last night and is suppose to continue until midnight tonight. We've already got 3 inches. We're suppose to have like 9 by the time we wake up on Friday.

When I said "Utah, the greatest snow on earth" in another post I wasn't kidding. Partialy it was both nice and not nice. probably about 12 hrs we got 8". It is expected to continue snowing for the next couple days.
Wish I had a camera, my wife let out the dog (part toy-poodle + part Shih Tzu :: poos-hit or shi-tpoo), she leaped right into the snow (was about 6") she isnt that big of a dog, so the snow practically covered her, she had ran through the yard making some snow tunnels (that collapsed). It was pretty funny.

Yeah, no snow here it was like 55 degrees yesterday afternoon. And usually this time of year it is bitter cold.

It's not terrible here either. It rained like crazy last night, but other than that, it's pretty mild for this time of the year.
I'm also glad it's Thursday... Thursday to me = Friday! woo! I don't have school/work on Fridays. :D

Just got a call from dad. He works as an overnight exec at the Target in Davenport (different store than I worked). Just tried driving back home after a 14 hour night, normally an hour drive, and the roads are so bad he's sleeping in the car at a gas station. LETS GET THE SNOW PLOWS IN GEAR, SHALL WE?

I can't beleive they have not cleaned your road yer Reuber. For a place that is accustomed to snow you would think they would be on top of that. Say what you want about Jersey but they are pretty good around here with being prepared for the weather. Alot of times if they know a storm is coming they will salt before it even starts.

shoot, that's like the last major storm we had here... I almost went off the road a good half dozen times because they didn't want to send out the plows until the storm was completely over.
It took me almost 3 hours to get to work.
Morons.

The road maintenance here is a joke. They knew of this storm for at least three days. And when they do plow the roads, on certain sections of the highway, mainly the long winding hills, they'll do a once-over so you have essentially one pathway to drive through. This is why I hate winter.

It took you 3 hours to get to work, Morea? Wait, isn't that shorter than your nomal commute?
I think I would probably call in to work if the possibility of driving for 3 hours to get here was even remote. Then again, we're pretty squemish about driving in snow here in East TN.

We only got 3 to 4 inches of snow, but even in my itty bitti town (in the middle of KY)they dumped salt on all the roads before it snowed. Nothing stuck to the roads, and there was still a snow day for my son's school Monday (either that or an hour delay that I didn't know about).
I did get snowed-in when I was living in louisville, this would've been 10 or 11 years ago. My best friend had spent the night (can't remember why). The next day we got up to go to school and there was2.5 to 3 feet of snow and the electricity went out, needless to say we had no school that day. My friend and I spent several hours shoveling snow until a guy came along who offered to plow it for us for $30. We let him. There were a few deaths that year - mostly elderly people who got too cold, and a heroic effort to plow part of a parking lot so a little girl could be helocoptered out for a life-saving heart transplant (I think it was her heart).
Glad it's Thursday, but (and I know I'll be one of the few, if not the only) I'm looking forward to Monday. The company that laid me off in October called yesterday and has too much to do, so (even though they just had to lay off 5 more office staff) I get to go back to work for a month at the same rate of pay (no healthcare, but, hey, you can't have-it-all all the time). I was getting depressed, so this is a terriffic ego boost.

They said that snow strom was supposed to hit us to, I kept telling everyone at work that were not gonna get touched. The new said rush hour commute was gonna be three times as long, woke up and what do we have, nothing

I'm glad for the lack of snow this year. Frankly, my back could use the rest. I could always make the neighborhood kids my serfs.
