Hi guys,
I have a client who opened a travel agency. I'm in charge of everything ( from logo , thru flyers to website. The name "BLASK" means sunshine in english. I'll grately appreciate any comment on this logo.

That "s" looks wierd, looks upside down. Maybe use a diffrent font for the name "Blask"?

have you tried the logo all in black? and maybe add a little bit of spacing between travel and agency. just a little. Check your kerning, i see a lot of white space rivers (swint and look at it the white space is the rivers between the letters)

reminds me a lot of my local bike shops logo.

Navian - Definiately you're right. I have to improve kerning.
Morea - heh what a coincidence.I hope this bike shop won't mind but I love the idea.
Rockem - I just tried to drag everybody's attention to it:). And seriously, I'm sorry for the size, this was my first posting with picture, I will improve :)

the kerning could use a little work, as you said, and Navian's got a point on the "S" looking odd.

I would consider changing the font you used for "BLASK" to something a little thicker? Maybe it is just because the kerning is loose, though, I'd have to see it.

The font for Blask definitely needs to be bolder to stand out a little better. You want the eye to be drawn to the name and what they do first and foremost, and always make sure it works in a single color. With travel agency only being divided into 2 words by color when the logo is reproduced in a single color it will be hard to read as 2 seperate words.

you are right guys, I'm getting back to work, will post the final results later. THANKS A LOT

post a couple before going with a final, all though the client is the ultimate final choice maker.

hey ARV, I resized it down some so people don't have to scroll to see it.

It's easier to evaluate that way... hope you don't mind. ;)

just a thought here, now that I look at it again, the sun image looks sort of like the letter "G".

MOREA- thanks a lot, I promise that next time it will be the size it should be.

no problem, we've all done it. I just thought it was a little easier to judge on a smaller scale. (I usually 'save for web' and set pixel width no larger than 700 to be sure it fits the main body of the forum.)

So Blask means sunshine in Polish, not English? In the English I speak it doesn't mean anything. Blask - maybe an expression for a bad taste on your tongue.:)

Your english is quite good considering it is not your first language.

I dont know if he's ever made those but I know he does eat some funky stuff... usually it's really good home made mexican, usually left overs from when his mother cooks.

arv,

i dont think this is working well as a logo. i like the colors, and the typeface is kinda cool, but its too generic and the concept is overdone.

morea showed you another logo that is almost identical to this concept. i can tell you that i have seen tons of logos that use this kind of sun illustration. its been played out, and doesnt really communicate 'vacation' or 'travel'. a hot sun actually makes me think of hot and humid weather. the kind of hot temperature that is uncomfortable to be in.

also, the type and the image doesnt have any noticeable relationship with each other. it just looks like you made an illustration of a sun, and put it next to the name of the company. the two should have a visual connection. they should form one cohesive unit. right now, they are two seperate elements fighting for attention.

just some thoughts. im interested in seeing how it comes out. good luck!

matthew~

Typo - I know that this something quite popular, but it was my client pre-eliminary choice. She's very stubborn at that she wants, and after showing her few "layout" ideas she said that she wants logo to be like this. I'm not a great fun of this layout either, but I kinda like the result ( although I have to work on fontface and kerning). I really appreciate your oppinion as you gave me many hint and tips for the future, which I'll definiately use.
Logo, G-man - thanks for the support. America is totaly different than my home country and I'm still trying to find my place here.

I really have to spend more time on this forum... you all rock :)

I agree to that the concept is way over done, if she wants that that is fine, but I think you need to push the concept to stand out form thousands of other designs that are just like this. You can change the sun to be more original and stand out and keep the same idea. I dont mind the type once the issues have been stated are fixed, like the s the over tracked out travle agency, kerning etc. But I do agree that it does not compliment the sun design, it two very different styles shown together, I think either the font needs work or the sun needs work. The sun style is very loose and the type has a very modern tight feel to it. Like I said I dont mind the font just needs some work, and then the sun needs to compliment it. And try to make the sun different than all the other logos like this, educate your client and show her how many logos are just like this.
The sun itself size wise is competing with the type also, I take it you want the name to stand out, the twoare competing the way they are now.
