Okay, I'm not really complaining (we have had the warmest winter on record this year with an average in the 40's and 50's) But it doesn't make me feel any warmer today.

-16° F below in Omaha this morning.

I think our Canuck friends are sharing their polar air.

eek... that's just wrong.

It's 51 degrees here in NY this morning... but it is expected to drop back down to a more "seasonable" 20 this afternoon.

We'll be reaching a balmy 19º today - but those negative temps are pretty brisk. Just don't forget to wear your mini-cask of brandy around your neck St. Bernard style and you should be OK.

Indeed...I just went to the bank it was already in the 40's which is a 15 degree drop from 2 hours ago. Bogus.

You know, sometimes the warmer weather in FL sounds great, I am sure.
But 9 months of summer? Ughhhh. Heck no, I ain't goin' back. I mean, 80 degrees, in February? Yuck (at least to me - 80s is a tad warm, especially for Feb - think of the high 90s you get the rest of the year.)

But 9 months of summer? Ughhhh. Heck no, I ain't goin' back. Call me crazy, but I lived in Hawaii on the island of Kauai for 3 years and came back to the Northwest simply because I love the seasons. Evergreens and mountains are what Christmas and Thanksgiving are about, not palm trees and sand, IMO

we have a high of -1 in MN today, ah oh well well have a little bit of chilly weather for a day or two, then back to normal, we have had a really mild winter, january was the warmest since like 1850 or something like that

As for Florida... I don't care how nice and warm it is there. My house isn't about to blow away here. I don't need to leave the area three to four times a year. I can't for the life of me see why some group of people decided it would a good place to live year after year. I do want to do an island Christmas at least once with the kids and the wife.

major blackout just north of here... I might get home tonight only to find that we have no power.

A coworker who lives about 15 miles from me has no power at home, and was told that he won't have it back until tomorrow. It's supposed to be around 15F tonight, and he has a newborn baby.

Vikia, I'm pretty sure we got what you guys got. Unless all you got was snow, because where I work was hit by lots of snow, but where I live was hit by a friggin' ice storm. I really liked the 50 degree weather from three days ago.

What sucks about the midwest is it can get into the mid/high 90s during summer, and it gets hella-humid. And we get pretty much every natural disaster short of hurricanes and volcanoes.

It was -7 this morning when I came to work and -12 when I went to lunch...

If it looks nice out in Minnesota in the winter it's probably too cold to do anything - if it looks nasty and overcast that's your best bet for a day outside! I love MN!

Same in Canada for winter usually ..... a clear sky in the morning is an indicator that all the heat has gone up to space and it's cold. Overcast means the heat has been trapped by the clouds and it might be tolerable.

Hey can you Canadians stop sending that cold northerly wind my way. I went out at lunch and it was howling and now the temperature is dropping, what are you gonna send us next, snow.

Nothing like a good blast of Arctic Air to remind everyone how winter really can be.
I'm just hoping my morning headwind will be my tailwind on the bike ride home.

Bike ride? You're crazy to be riding any kind of bike in cold like this! It's actually pretty normal for this time of year but we've been spoiled with nice weather so I'm a baby right now - waaa!

The "winter" weather we've had has been like mid spring, sans tornados. What we have now is normal, but it still sucks and reaffirms my hatred for winter.

Yea I had to wear ski googles today....
Ice races on Saturday and the windchill maybe -25C
Been riding virtually everyday for a least three years back and forth to work.

AND satchel has a new car with a heater that gets warm quickly. :p as opposed to the one that starts to get warm by the time you get to your destination.

If I was within biking distance of where I work (25 miles is not biking distance, especially with hills. Yes, Iowa has hills, we're on the bluff), I would do it in a heartbeat. Winter be damned.

If I stick with this job I think I'll get a bike this spring... it makes a lot of sense - I dont live very far from work and would save me a ton of money! Any suggestions on a good bike?

Cost range, and what style/type are you looking for? Mountain bike, racing, cruiser?

(take a notepad & pen) I'd go to a couple bike stores in your area and just ask for prices and what not, let them know what you plan on doing, and I'd bet they would give you a type of bike to look into. Also ask about what manufactures have the most & least problems, which have more/less part failures. Get an idea of a good brand/make/model, then list the prices, dont forget to physicaly sit on one. If you dont like the way it feels when you sit, you wont like it when you ride it. Look into disc brakes instead of the pads.

Hey, with wind chill factored in, it's 30 below now! So that means since Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. to Friday (right now), there has been an 80 degree temperature drop! 50 degrees to -30! Fun times!
