I finally decided to get some business cards done,..

Also figured its time for a logo, so i took a crack at it.

These images are front and back of my business card design.

They will be printed on plastic (like a credit card), and have an irridescent shine to them. On a 200 card run, Im getting 40 green (as shown), 40 silver, 40 gold, 40 blue, and 40 pink/violet.

What do you think? I could really use some feedback because i think im still pretty weak at logos and typography.

Any thoughts?

i like them for the most part. the logo is very simple, which i think is good. the colors of the card will be very nice and grab attention, and the whole card is very straightforward. the only thing i would suggest is to make sure that all the information is lined up. right now it all looks slighty off..other than that i really like it. it grabs attention with the color and is very striaghtforward and simple. nice job.

[Edit] now that i look at it again it looks like just the illustration, web, etc is indented slightly and it looks fine. i would just line up the right aligned things to the end of the website at the top if they arent already...nice job.

I like it a lot, very creative. I'm not sure I'm loving the name, phone and email placement & alignment though -- I think that's what anger was looking at too if I read that correctly.

looks like the shack is just a pixel or two longer than the "D" ... is that intentional? Or my eyeballs?

just a question bro:

the paper you are using, is it from CTI USA or Curious Collection? (Irridescents would be from Curious, but hey, im curious ;) ). I worked in the paper industry for 2 years, so im always interested in what paper people use...and of course, being a graphic designer, it helps a lot knowing about the stuff.

I like the simple design of the logo, too many times people try to get too fancy and the logo gets lost, but you nailed it I think with this one. I would only point out the same thing EC said about the shack and the D not lining up, in a logo thats important it gives it unfiormity and just looks better so line up the top and bottom on the logo for the front. Now on the back, I don't care for the lines of text touching, I would try it like it is and maybe keep it close but have some amount of space. Overall though, nice design and good job with the logo.

I think this is a great logo! My only question is why the low print run on the cards, 200 cards dosen't seem like very much.

I'm getting these printed on plastic from a company out of Korea. A LOT cheaper than any place I find over here in the west. Here's the link:
http://www.mra.co.kr/front/event/e46.asp (you'll still be able to see the samples if you dont install the language pack)

The 200 run and the colors is just the printing package they offer.

As with the logo, you guys mentioned that the 'shack' doesnt quite line up with the 'D'....ya I just noticed that too.... but this is still a photoshop concept, so I'll fix that up when I toss it in Illustrator.

I love the logo.

But your back side typography is weak.
Dump the outlined type, and straighten it out, there is really no need to put a bend in it. Also I do not like the way that the name, phone, and e-mail are aligned. Maybe make it all left aligned? Keep the touching type - It looks nice and kind of emulates the slant of the roof. Play around with the type a bit more and repost - Great start!

Just curious...
Is the name of the business Diesel Shack or dieselshack.com?

Very nice, I agree it has a certain style that seems to reflect your ideas. How are well know are that company for producing cards? I like the whole plastic idea.

I'm really loving those cards mike. I need to redesign mine here soon so checked it out -- very cool. I need to figure out how to install the language pack -- but it looks to me like they're transclucent? Can you do two-sided?

So I hate to ask the obvious question, but do you know korean or is there an alternate site where the rest of us might be able to explore this option?

I love it! I think your logo is great...simple and so effective. A little fine tuning with the spacing is all I can reccomend. I know if I came across one of your cards it would definatley stand out and I would hang on to it.

Looks great to me. The only thing im not sure of is the bendy shack.com. On the one hand I think it looks slightly odd, on the other it gives it a certain character....?

I also would like to know more about these cards, don't suppose you feel like translating the site for us do you? :P

They do 2-sided, plus other types of plastic stock, even card-printing on 'mirror-type stuff' (for lack of better description).

they have more styles here:
http://www.mra.co.kr/front/category/G02_13.asp

I can read a little Korean, but its mostly my wife (she's Korean) who is doing all the ordering and stuff.

They have nothing available for English-speaking people, so if you can hook up with a Korean to help you order, You'll save a lot of money.

My 200 card run, printed on 'shiny plastic stock', double sided, costs about $75 USD. And thats one of the most expensive packages they offer.

those are some pretty cool materials...you will definately stand out among all the regular business cards with those colors and that material.
